Adjustments, gap for 2011 is 62k~ in PS3's favour, last week was less than a 1k win for PS3, not like some had arrogantly predicted.

So arrogant PS3 fans were punished, arrogant XB360 fans were punished, and arrogant Baron Ballmer was punished too! Isn't it fabulous? It's like the typical American movie, the villain always loses!

When was Ballmer punis ... oh the choir

LOL, that was ham! I'm sure North Koreans took notes for their next state funeral!

Now that would be priceless.  Just imagining it, with the bears and magpies weeping in the background, makes me chuckle.

Seece : "Adjustments, Gap 60k" : what is that ? There's still officially on VGC a gap of 307k, right ? What is this 60k ?

Have you tried refreshing the charts page?

What a stupid time to adjust.

NPD and shipment data just around the corner, so VGChartz updates with no real idea where anything was/is over/undertracked.

Wasn't the reason that PS2 sales were never adjusted, because VGC didn't know where to put them? How can they magically just know now where to put/take away sales?

New data that highlighted some tracking issues.  I don't see the big issue as the long timers on this site know nothings set in stone until we get shipment data.  Even then we get historical adjustments from time to time that suddenly swing a few hundred thousand units at a time.  If ioi has data and he's not satisfied with the figures then he has to adjust and then reassess as more data arrives in future.  I don't get the lets not adjust now just in case something changes, seems a little lazy waiting for data that might just confirm these adjustments that have been made.

Whatever they do with figures at this time of year, the stock response is always "lets wait for shipment data", where's the fun in that?

From what I can gather it's US that's been adjusted.

The fun is in being able to view and talk about actual accurate numbers. Not have a Wii 2008-like situation again. What was it, over a Million overtracked? That's why people say wait for shipment data. We've had consoles here selling more than they've actually shipped.

It's not really a big issue, it's just a very stupid time to adjust.

I agree, I see this issue this way: nobody would accuse a control system of cheating (not Carl's case, but some GAFfers for example disparage ioi also with  this stupid accusation) or doing adjustments at a stupid time because it uses feedback to make corrections instead of being open loop.

Unless the data became more accurate with the adjustments, in which case we are now discussing more accurate numbers than waiting 3 weeks discussing less accurate ones.  The entire methodolgy of the sites is estimates and trying to achieve accuracy.  I don't understand why for 1/12 of the year we should put that on hold tbh.

While I know your apparent preference as always seemed to be for Sony Carl, the statement below is more general and not to you personally.

This does tend to always be a issue when the PS3 gets downwards adjustments, I find it perplexing that if people think the adjustments are wrong they don't just sit back and wait till future data proves them right then they chime in with the "I told you so's".  Works well for the MS crowd, who are in fairness being quite laid back about this at present.

It's not 1/12 of the Year though, with NPD out in literally ~24 Hours, it's 1/365 of the Year. If these adjustments are purely in the US, then I see no reason to keep those adjustments on hold until we see more accurate data.

I don't think the PS3 fanbase here actually cares much about these adjustments. Simply because despite them, VGChartz still has the PS3 in the lead, despite what Steve said the other night.

idk why they adjusted today isnt NPD out tomorrow?

i can understand not waiting for shipments cause i think they come out late Jan. early feb but another day or two wouldnt of hurt

i believe that the X-box needs more added to it i believe tomorrow NPD will show 3.5M+ for it, after doing some research (not on vgc of course theres like 4 threads on the same thing with people just shouting stuff) ive come to the conclusion that yesterdays numbers from MS where there estimated SOLD so shipments should be higher than 8.4M, Sony cant compete with that it seems. With VGC recent adjustments its only at 2.9 something in US compared to the US preview that has the old numbers of 2.8 something, it doesnt look like PS3 was affected much with the adjustments in US
