The idea that it is so easy for a person in your community to reach a limit of that nature makes me very concerned for completely different issues in your community than gun ownership.

Well, my community/country hasn't got the issue of large number of murders. Infact, even bare handed brawls are very rare here. In the first post i saw how you wanted to spin this around. Besides, certain amount of people do own a firearm here(some illegaly, some trough hardly acquired license). The rate of illegal weapon possesion isn't even that small, because of the war we went trought some 15 years ago.

Still, there aren't many firearm murders here. Something in the lines of 15-30 per year (whole country). That said, i would like to conclude that those who have illegal/legal possesion of firearms here know how to (not) use em. But i don't think that it would be wise to give the ability of weapon possesion to the whole community.

So your argument fails in multiple ways.

So there are a ton of guns in your country yet you have little gun crime... yet you blame guns for violent crime... and his arguement fails in many ways? Come again?

I don't blame guns for violent crime, i blame people wh use them. But, if you take guns from those people, they won't have the tools that makes it easyer to commit crime.

An there are guns in my country, but i didn't say there is lots of them. No where near america atleast. But, if you want to go with that argument, take Canada. They have loads of guns, yet nowhere near firearm crimes compared to US. So it's obvious that certain portion US citizens can't/don't use guns responsibly, so best solution would be taking the guns from them.

So your murder rate is higher without many guns. So should they take the knives away from people in your country, since they can't handle those responsibly?

Felons and people with mental problems alren't aloud to own guns. And most gun crimes are committed by ILLEGAL guns. In other words, guns that would still be here no matter how harsh the gun laws were.

Very few people comit crimes with real guns, as you should know by CSI and Law and Order and the rest... bullets can be traced to a gun exactly.  They can tell the model of gun and even which gun in particular fired it.  To get away with a gun crime in the US is much harder then to get away with any other sort of murder.

WHOOOOP WHOOOPPP!

Holy crap, Spock's logical error alerts are going off like crazy! Scotty, divert more power to the rational thrusters! Sulu, warp 9! And yes, Bones, I know you're a Doctor, and not in some completely unrelated profession, so shut up.

"you don't use guns responsibly, so in order to teach the responsible use of firearms, we'll make sure NOBODY has them, and tell everyone that only criminals have guns"

Yeeeeaaaahhhh, I'm just SOO sure that people are suddenly going to magically become responsible in their use of firearms just simply because the government says that guns are bad and no one can have them anymore.

Citizens also become responsible and safe drivers when you make it illegal to drive, and thus impossible to learn how to drive. I learned how to use a knife properly to cut my food by never beign allowed to use one, and I learned how to spell by never being allowed to see the alphabet.

Europeans are bloodthirsty. I mean, if I was going to have to kill someone breaking into my house, or defending my family, I would much rather stand back and blow them into eternity with a gun. Europeans have to use machetes, knives, clubs, hammers, whatever they can get their greasy little hands on. Bloodthirsty hardcore people.

That's because guns are for wussies. Real men fight with katanas :) ask Japanese :P

@Kazsz216: Where have i said that we have higher murder rate with less guns? We have about 15-30 murders yearly commited with firearms, and not much more commited with other objects.

Anyway, have your guns, kill eachother, i don't care much. Have it your way, it's your country afterall. I live on Balkans, which is percieved as most turbulent part of Europe, yet it feels ultra-safe compared to USA.

Have you BEEN to the USA? From personal experience, I don't live in a gated community or anything, but I heard about pickpockets and armed robbers and perverts on trains and free for all traffic in other areas, but when I actually went there, turned out that just because those are problems that you hear about every day doesn't mean it happens every day.

I'm sure that the rest of europe likely has crime rates higher than in your area, yet from what you say, from how they "perceive" it, they would likely feel far safer where they are than where you are. Has it ever occured to you that you could be doing the same thing and simply "perceiving" that our area is less safe that yours?

There are more crimes in the US using firearms than in other countries. That being said I would rather live with the risk of being shot, than risk not being able to defend myself, my family, my community, or my political beliefs.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Seriously, what parts of the USA have you visited?  What, do you think we live in a war zone?

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Your society must be fucked up if you can justify having a gun to protect yourself.

What is safer, A) A country (state, community) where everyone has a gun, or B) a country (state, community) where no one is allowed a gun?

The answer is obvious to me. B. There will be people who have guns illegally but they would be a very small minority. I certainly feel safer living in a country where guns are banned, then I would living in a country where guns are allowed.

I live in England by the way. And guns are banned.
