Ericsson has been off people's radars for so many years. I won't ever plan on getting one, and never thought about it even during it's golden years (prefered nokia over it). Now it's all about android, iPhone, and blackberry(even though it is also falling as well). Lets see if Sony can push ericsson back up if they end up buying em.

SE phones use Android

Yeah, and I barely see anything about them in stores or online. I should've said HTC, or samsung instead of vaguely stating Android (since it's an OS on it's own if my understanding of it is correct).

In Europe (well UK), I see SE phones a lot, particularily the Play, Arc and Mini

I always thought that ericsson was already owned by sony

SE is a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson, but this move would simply split them, and hand over the phone operation to Sony, and leave Ericsson to their telecoms work. It would not mean Sony own Ericsson, merely take full control over their phone business

Well, I guess here in Dubai, Ericcson isn't what it used to be... Used to be in the top phones to own category.

The thread title is misleading as Sony is only looking to buy out Ericsson's share of their shared mobile division.

Ericsson did some good phones ages ago, but then they joined with Sony, made a few good ones, then feel away a bit, before recovering with their recent Android phones, especially their 2011 ones

Sony will never release phone like Galaxy S II the beefed up Iphone 4 imitator, I like Sony to be an innovator, not a copier like Samsung. I got an Arc S and also very impressed by their Xperia Active design.
