Slap Super on the Wii name. Make more motion based games using motion plus. Make mass market games and forget 3rd parties. Stay successful and they will have to make games on your system
Very simple stretegy

Nintendo does need to utilize the WiiU controller pretty damn well at launch or close after launch. People need to see what it can do, and they need to see it soon (when it launches). They might try to ride the coattails of the Wii a little bit, but they shouldn't do that (which is why they should change the name, but they might need to keep it because of the brand).
Only 4 games:
1) Wii U Sports
2) Wii U Fit
3) New Super Mario Mii
4) Mario Kart U
I think the key challenge for Nintendo is bridging the gap between different groups of gamers ...
They need the "interactive entertainment" experiences that appeal to people who don't necessarily think that they are a gamer. Games like Wii Fit and the Brain Training games are perfect examples of this. With the Wii U being what it is, I think their best chances come from making something like an Art Academy game that has been fleshed out to be a more complete experience; and by this I mean that it should be a much better simulation of visual mediums (pencil and colored pencil, charcoal and pastels, watercolor and acrylic paint, etc) and it should have many more lessons which (potentially) span multiple skill levels and art styles.
They need to appeal to the social nature of many casual gamers by releasing games which are ideal to play in a party setting as well as to create interesting/innovative integrations with the online social networking that so many people are hooked into today. If game-saves exist in "the cloud" and people can share these same files with their friends, even single player games can become social experiences.
They need the crossover games (Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros., etc) which have broad appeal across all demographics
... and they need to increase credibility as a "core" platform simply to discourage multi-console ownership and to prevent bleeding core gamers to other platforms.
If Nintendo really wanted to win they would've supported the Wii with the right software. Unless they make another Wii they are doomed to failure trying to compete with M$ and Sony. Not competing is the only way Nintendo thrives. Honestly a Wii with a good online and a profile to tie all digital purchases to would go a LONG way. I just don't think Nintendo wants to make that kind of software anymore.

The Wii is a financial success, but in the eyes of the gamers, it could've been so much more. The online was horrible, and they expressed before its release that they didn't really want to do it because it wasn't their business model (kind of similar idea with the cartridges idea for N64), but they saw the success of MS and Sony with their online, so I think they will try harder in that regard.
1 - Wireless N . Wireless G needs to die.
2 - ditch the pad, come up with a flawless, lagless motion system
3 - make easy to use dev kits
4 - bettter software quality control

Being first to market will automatically give the Wii U a pretty good head start, but it will need to be able to compete with Xbox 720/PS4 on both the graphics / technology level and the overall content / entertainment value level.
With M$ obviously going for the "one box fits all" approach for all your multimedia and entertainment needs with their latest announcement for Xbox Live, and Sony most likely following suit, that could leave Nintendo out in the cold and stranded in the middle of their own "blue ocean."

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

From all the talk going around online, the dev kits for the Wii U have been less than satisfactory. They either haven't been working right or just broke, I believe I read.
