Forums - Sony Discussion - "PSN Pass" Confirmed for Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Access

Well I've never said anything nice about online passes so I will not be a hypocrite and do so here. I will buy the game new like I do almost every game, but I won't say anything good about online passes, because they suck.

Around the Network

I for one am fucking tired of the propaganda. These developers aren't starving. They are making money hand over fist, and used sales are hardly putting a dent in their bottom line. Can we call these programs by their true name for a change. They are money grabs made by greedy people. They do not need that extra money to survive. They just really want that money, and what is good for consumers. Well they couldn't give a flying fuck about them. After all if they really cared they wouldn't be running these programs.

They harm consumers by depreciating the resales value of games they may have paid top dollar for upfront. This is a shakedown, and they are taking money out of your pocket. I for one have more self respect then seems to be the case for most of you. I don't put up with this kind of bullshit. The resales potential of something I buy is part of the investment up front. I wouldn't buy a new car that depreciated ninety percent after a single day, and I sure as hell see no reason for that to be the case with a game.

One has to wonder how effective this will be. If someone buys UC3 used and is only slightly interested in the MP, they're probably not going to pay the $10. That sucks, because they'll never know if the MP was for them or not. I don't like this "blindly pay $10, or don't play the MP at all" thing. They'll likely miss out on a lot of potential buyers that way. As a potential customer, they should be given the knowledge on what they would be paying $10 for, as opposed to just making a blind purchase....

They could have been more effective by cutting off most of the online instead of charging for online all together. I think it's fair if you offer a MP-demo for those who buy the game used. For example, they could limit online play to just a few maps/modes for those who buy it used. That way, they'll get a taste of the game and will be more inclined to pay the $10. This seems like it would be more effective IMO. I'm gonna post this idea on the psblog.

I know companies like EA offer a very limited trial for their online, like one day or something (Mortal Kombat did, too). I don't know if Resistance 3 had a quick trial, but they should have one to give a quick taste of the MP.

Firstly, Blame Sony, not the developers. Secondly, you're aggressive tone really isn't necessary.

Pretty much why I will not buy games with PSN pass by principal even though I buy most of my games new, it just gives them all the power and harms the consumer.

Most software are not possible to be resold, for eg steam games, PSN games, PC games. If you want to resell them, then you have to sell your id which is possible even in this case.

And many gamers don't even sell their games. Those people won't really be affected by this.

If you buy the game new, this has nothing to do with you if you buy the game used, that has nothing to do with Sony and that's why they are pissed and for the record, as is with the case with everything else, Sony were late to the online pass party but as always, they get all the stick.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Fine for me.

Or you buy the game new or buy it used and expend more $10 for a new pass.

Good options for all.

Meh? We're all going to buy it new anyways.

seams like they didn't learn with resistance 3, am looking forward to see uncharted 3 sell less then the previous ones, why is it ok for me to sell my used car with all the features but somehow my games cannot be sold with all of them. Gamers are already being screwed with incomplete games that get complete later with dlcs now this. if you buy the game and you don't like it well your screwed by 10$ if you try to resell it on ebay or kijiji

Terrible analogy. If you buy a used car youre paying for a car with thousands of miles. Probably dings, scratched, stains on the upholstery. Maybe the AC doesnt blow on the hardest setting. Acting like you buy  aused product and its flawless, in working order as it came off of the assembly line is stupid. Why should a used game be caught in the fabric of time and buying it used gets you the perks of buying a new product.

Its second hand, it should have diminished value, and in a software not hardware sense this is the diminished value. Get used to it. It makes perfect sense if you approach it with logic rather than entitlement.
