Wow at the Gears boost. Not sure it was fully expected.

its impressive when a game can cause such an increase in hardware.. it makes you wonder with the game being a sequel why all these new purchasers didnt have a 360 to begin with.. impressive numbers

Well there's no way the PS3 will be No. 2 this week. :(

That's a serious boost for 360 there. Can't wait to see EMEAA boost.

Wow expected a 20,000 boost. Moved a lot more obviously.
Ps3 dropping back to where it was which is disappointing.
Wii will struggle to make 100,000 again which is never good.

Maybe next gen is needed?

Be interesting to see if the 360 can maintain that sales bump over the next several weeks with all the other high profile releases coming out like Rage, Forza, Batman, BF3 and MW3.  It should do a MINIMUM of 100k a week in the Americas leading up to the frantic Thanksgiving shopping season.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

the 360 boost from Gears 3 is much greater than I expected, and Gears 3 opened to some very impressive numbers, I wonder if Sony will do anything to respond in the coming weeks if the 360 sales remain this high

Look at that 360 go!

once again ps3 has to be undertracked and amazing 360 numbers
and seriously resistance 3 is just doing shockingly bad. Uncharted 2 sold 10k unit's and resistance 3 got 25k that is a problem right there

Well not all the purchasers will be new - i.e. some will be fans trading in existing 360s for Gears 3 custom consoles.  Happens with all titles like this - for example in Japan with FFXIII custom PS3 a part of the boost would have been the same thing, fans trading in a vanilla PS3 for a Lightning PS3.

A fair bit of the boost will be new gamers though as well, as a growing franchise, as Gears is, will draw in people with each installment and a big new game also nudges a few extra people over the line to go ahead and buy.  Normally for new games the spike is only for one week maybe two at best and then the baseline reasserts itself.

Everything else looks in line with current trends so there's not much else to say until SW numbers are posted.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
