I think calling the wii "current gen" is an insult to the current gen, Nintendo's "current gen" console will be releasing next year

with that said I'll rate it with the gen it belongs in "last gen" and I'll give it a 6/10 not enough core titles to warrant anything higher

nice troll comment (IMHO) but that's to be expected.  It'll be funny when Sony and MS releases their systems and it won't be as "NEXT GEN" as some people might think them to be.  Wii U in every way seems to be very next gen compared to the current systems.  One can just look at BF3 to see that PS3  and 360 has already peaked!!! Though I agree that technical aspect of Wii is very sub par in comparison to 360 and PS3; however their gameplay offering was very "current gen" seeing that both HD consoles emulated the motion control aspect of the Wii.   My 2 cents.

Actually what would be less trollish is if one rates all market leaders and their competitors since the NES days.

Here I'll start:

Gen I=
NES: 9.5
Sega Master System: 7.5

Gen II=
TG-16: 7.8
Genesis: 9.0
SNES: 9.8

Gen III=
Saturn: 7.0
PS1: 9.0
N64: 8.3

Gen IV=
DreamCast: 8.5
Xbox: 8.0
PS2: 8.0
GCN: 8.5

Gen V=
Wii: 8.5
X360: 9.0
PS3: 8.0

I knew oniyide my buddy was gonna say something. However, I think those scores were pretty fair for their time.  The dreamcast had a few gems and paved way for generation IV and was ahead of it's time in terms of what they were offering.  PS2 even with some stellar games was the weakest console besides the dreamcast during that generation.  It didn't help them when they promised that the PS2 will deliver 10x better graphics than the dreamcast when in fact it actually wasn't.  I have yet to see Shrek and Toy Story type graphics come out for that system; hence 8.0 is a very good number!!!

Sony said that?? Stupid SOny, the only reason why I dont think DC should be that high, is becasue they threw in the towel like bums. Does not really matter if your ahead of your time, when your console is only on the market for a year and a half. All those poor bastards who bought one. Thats just me.

oh please, im a Nintendo fan. I gave Wii a 6.5 because i dont think it was that good. GC 8, N64 8.5, SNES 9, Nes 9.5. all handhelds are 9s

I never once mentioned a HD console in my original post, I never once pushed HD gaming onto another poster or put down another console by directly comparing it to a HD console. Your reply wasn't an intelligent response and in my opinion you are wrong, next time you try and make a point about something, please back it up with a well thought argument that supports your point of view and I may then agree with you. Don't do it in this thread though, because as far as I can tell, it's a thread about rating the Wii.

This isn't about defence, if you'd like to discuss the ratings or comparisons between the HD consoles and the PC, make a new thread about it, I'd enjoy posting in it. If thats not your cup of tea, then please refrain from knocking down my opinion with your opinion in a thread that is just about an individuals opinion on a product.

So how do you come up with "Graphically Weak" if you aren't comparing it to SOMETHING? That SOMETHING being an HD console perhaps, hmmm? And that's just the first of your cons.

Being a 10 year old piece of technology makes you weaker than modern day standards, it's not about comparing it to the HD consoles, it's about comparing it to the progress of technology over the last decade, be it computers, refrigerators, harddrives, the internet, phones, TV's, MP3 players and so on. 

It's odd how your trying to find fault in my perfectly legitimate post, but you don't see that your post was the one that brought off topic discussion and uneccessary comparisons into the thread. It's really pecualiar and really do hope you stop this silliness and take my advice from the previous post, just make a new thread about it and I'm sure many people (including me) will enjoy debating in it.

It's as if you can't read or don't have any reading comprehension.....

If you decide to slam the Wii for things which are set by HD consoles, then I really can't help myself but point out the hypocirisy in statements like those. Now if a PC gamer was out and about and bashing the Wii with the mentioned cons he wouldn't be all that hypocritical at all. It's like the some HD console owners are bitter the Wii is the market leader and try to bash it with criticisms which they conveniently forget apply to their console of choice from the standpoint of another. If anything, I'm just calling some of those HD owners out on it, and as can be seen by you and doobie, I have hit a sore spot. As I said before, if you can't stand the fire, gtfo from the kitchen. If you are going to make fun of the Wii for graphics, bad online, etc. be prepared to be made fun of by the people with the platform which has superior ones to the HD console.

Edit: I forgot to mention that since I've started lurking around many eyars ago, I have yet to see a PC gamer bash the Wii. So if anything I feel like the HD owners are the ones that are insecure.

Sorry, I think people misunderstood my post.

What I meant is that the results from this thread thread were already written from the start, since this is how forums works. I never said I didn't like someone's opinion.
