Forums - Sony Discussion - Is playstation MOVE being discontinued?

Major retailers accross north america have cut every single PS move accessories price in half...

the playstation move controller which originally sold for $49.99 is now selling for $24.99, and the PS nav controller is now selling for a measly $19.99

gamestop has plastered an ad on it on their website on the ps3 section http://www.gamestop.com/collection/playstation-move?loc=move_row5_col2

WHAT COULD THIS MEAN FOR PLAYSTATION MOVE!?

WILL SONY DISCONTINUE THE PRODUCT... OR IS SONY TRYING TO PUSH MOVE HARDWARE TO CONTINUE TO STEAL THE WII'S MOMENTUM AND INCREASE IT'S MOVE INSTALL BASE FOR THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY MOVE GAMES?! INCLUDING RESISTANCE 3!

what do you think

PS Move has stolen no ones momentum. Its almost forgotten.

Hopefully it's going to be phased out. This whole motion control thing is all but dead. The casual people who made it huge are long, long gone. In another few years the industry will be back in our hands, the hardcore gamers, and imo that's a GOOD thing.

Which retailers? I thought it was just Gamestop...

i don't know i don't like it tbh and i spent $200 on it but it made sony a great profit and ship/sold 8 million units so i think this is either a pricecut or sony has a new divice that will be introduced.

When Sony saw that Kinect had received the same initial spark that the Wii did, they said screw it and left Move out to dry. Its been a year now and there is still very little reason to own it. I wouldn't be surprised if it were discontinued.

They are just trying to make move and consequently the PS3 sell better... It complements  perfectly the PS3 price cut and in my opinion it's a smart business decision.

By the way, Wii momentum was not stolen by Move (and not even by Kinect), is was stolen by the lack of Nintendo games.

Edit: spell correction.

It is.  I think the sale ends the 2nd of Oct.  So, the Move is definitely not being discontinued.  Here's my thread on the topic: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=134173&page=1

Although, I think it would be smart for Sony to at least lower the price of all Move accessories by ~$10-$15 permanently.  This would boost sales quite a bit and probably still make them a good amount of profit.
