I just wanted to know if anyone can answer that question.....cause i know that the n-gage failed, the dreamcast failed....the only thing im scared about is that if i buy a PS3 third parties would drop support and im left with a system like the dreamcast...can someone answer??

I'm not too sure you can make a game system successful ...

In the game industry you need the right system, at the right price, with the right games, at the right time and using the right marketing strategy in order to be successful; the more of these things you get wrong the more disasterous your results will be.

First off, the ps3 is not going to just stop production. Sony is too big of a company with too much money. Ps3 sales will pick up more eventually, im guessing this holiday more.

Games ultimately make a system successful (look at the ps2's library). Graphics and multimedia features

 help too.

I have a ps3 and its really good. My friend has a 360 and that's fun too.

but rest assured, this console war wont be over for a long time. 3rd party dev support i see being about equal for a while. 

yea i agree with danny.. the dreamcast failed because sega couldnt afford to keep takin losses on the system.. so they eventually had to shut it down.. sony is a huge company of course... their pockets are gonna get even bigger next month with spiderman so no worries bout that..

if you're scared that the PS3 might become a dreamcast, that means you don't have enough reasons to buy one to begin with, dude.  if there's a game you really want to play and you have the money, just go ahead and buy it.  if you're gonna see if there will be games coming out, you should do just that--wait and see.

What makes a system succuessful? Price, timeframe, titles, good WOM...

The PS3 WILL get lots fo 3rd party support even though sales have been sucking. The difference is that you won't see alot of exclusives like you were used to last cycle. The PS3 really hasnt "lost" alot of franchises except for DQ. Outside of that, its just in the wake of everything multi-ing to 360 as well.

yeah...they have lost exclusives...such as ace combat, devil may cry..and some more....im even hearing that final fantasy 13 is coming 2 the xbox 360....im just hearing cause it might be in the works..

GAMES

Ps3 has all the best games.  3rd party will never drop support, this gen is all about multi everything and milking a franchise till it bleeds.

 Sega failed the dremcast, they gave up on it.
