Forums - Gaming Discussion - Netflix to add videogame rentals to their service

So there you go, say goodbye to the last Mom and Pop's rentals

Qwikster will be the same website and DVD service that everyone is used to. It is just a new name, and DVD members will go to qwikster.com to access their DVD queues and choose movies. One improvement we will make at launch is to add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option for Blu-ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Members have been asking for video games for many years, and now that DVD by mail has its own team, we are finally getting it done

oh snap! wait! gamefly?

Gamefly is going to get pissed.

Is this included in the raised subscription fee for DVD rentals? If so that makes it a bit better for all the bitter cheapsakes out there who think paying $16/month for unlimited streaming and rentals is too much. I used to pay that much just taking out a couple new games and a movie at Blockbuster in one shot!

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I'll bite depending on the cost. Though being able to pay my Netflix subscription with Paypal is a huge plus for me already.

Well Gamefly now has some SERIOUS competition.

This is awesome news though because Netflix has so many more places from where they ship their stuff from which means you get it faster. Also I bet Netflix will offer if for a slightly cheaper price.

Lol god damn it.

I hope they have digital rentals as an option though cause that would be amazing. Seems unlikely though.
