Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is the Wii prepared for 2008 and beyond?

Wow, 2008 just started and all the Wii doomsayers have already pushed the Date of Doom back from 2008 to 2009?

Anyways, the question should be are gamers ready for the Wii in 2008? We're coming into this year almost blind. Yeah, we know about some Nintendo big guns like SSBB, Wii Fit, and Mario Kart, but all of these games have been revealed since mid 2007 and slated to be released in the first half of 08. It's actually pretty amazing that Nintendo - and many 3rd parties, have managed to stay hush hush on the Wii 2008 lineup this long. People may find themselves overhwhelmed when the flood gates open, because this silence isn't going to last for too much longer.

It'll fade when the holographic, mind controlled Uss appears in 2014

Fix'd.

And yeah, Wii will see a fantastic 2008. Some third parties will shift it's focus and instead of rushed out games we will see more quality. Also, new IPs from Nintendo of course

By 2009 most major projects in most companies will have shifted completely to Wii... except Konami and Square, who will go bankrupt.

I don't see mind control becoming a thing for a very long time, because efficient mind control would likely require implants

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

wii will still outsell the other two systems. How can you go wrong with Brawl and Mario Kart? Not to mention Wii fit could be the next wii sports and the system is still hard to find. The wii will only fade when it becomes shovelware for crappy budget games. As long as nintendo and the big 3rd parties continually support it, it'll do great
