yikes, a missed opportunity. Oh well

I'm not a huge fan of MH, but this is a huge win for Nintendo and the 3DS. Even if a Vita version is announced, the 3DS would already have a huge lead over the Vita thanks to MH and possible Pokemon, and they also have a big price advantage. Sony definitely dropped the ball: no killer apps or must have games announced for the Vita.

VITA not getting the home ver. Moster Hunter sequel doesn't mean its out, just like the PSP never get any Monster Hunter home ver. sequel at all, it gets its own portable ver. and sell even more than the home ver. that's why I don't think capcom will ditch a VITA ver. trust me, just a matter of time... ^^

Again, Monster Hunter 3G, Monster Hunter 4 and maybe in the future Monster Hunter 4G will be exclusive for Nintendo platforms, as the Portables (probably re-named in the near future) and Freedom sub-series are exclusive to Sony platforms.

Nintendo didn't paid for anything as Sony neither do. Capcom is happy with Freedom and Portable amazing sales thanks to PSP, but not pleased with the numbered ones (as Tri), so as a smart move, they choose another handheld instead of a console.

MH4 for 3DS won't hurt or kill Vita in any way, becuase people expecting another MHPortable or MHFreedom will look in the future Vita. The install base is currently on PSP and will be on Vita. People expecting another numbered title will look for Nintendo platforms, in this case, 3DS.

MHTri being on Wii didn't hurt PSP sales, and MH4 being on 3DS won't hurt Vita.

But MH4 already is the Portable version...the whole point of a Portable version was that it's on a portable. This is already the case with MH4...

Nothing is confirmed.. Yoshida said " not rule out MH4 on Vita as 3rd parties work on a Multi basis" remember if Nintendo paid for a timed xxclusive.. its not SONY job to announce that.

this.  answering a question with "i don't know, ask capcom" doesn't mean anything is confirmed.  sony publicly spilling the beans over capcoms property could get sony into a lot of trouble.

Even if nothing's totally confirmed one way or another, the fact that the 3DS had MH3G and MH4 announced for it while the Vita got nothing of the sorts at the conference doesn't inspire much hope.

Portable series will be re-named with some tweaks. If not, they still have the Freedom and Freedom Unit ones. The real megaton is not MH on 3DS, but the game being showed to early.

I expect a Monster Hunter Vita game next holiday and MH4 for 2013. I will be shocked if the Freedom series is announced for 3DS.

I'm rather inclined to agree. While Vita does have a truckload of games announced for it, and some pretty well-known ones too, none of them could be considered real system sellers the likes of which 3DS has coming up with Monster Hunter Tri G & 4, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land. Let alone Pokemon, once that hits, it'll be a done deal.

Ouch. Sony has been losing exclusives left and right these days..

It's funny how Sony fans act as if they own every third party franchise. Come on, Capcom made a business decision, deal with it. Nintendo is helping Capcom to develop Monster Hunter as a worldwide franchise, Sony hasn't done a bit to export this game outside of Japan.

your either very ignorant or just plain dumb. Damn near all the MH games have been released in the west. Even PS2 had one. There doing more for MH in the west than Ninty is doing for Xenoblade and Last story, but i guess thats all good to you huh?

Capcom published the MH games on PS2 and PSP in the West, so Sony really did nothing.

And your point?? THey also published the Wii game in the West. So Ninty didnt do much in the west

There all losing exclusives, you think SOny is the only one?? 3rd party exclusives are going away period. And thats a good thing

Vita will likely see a Monster Hunter in the future, but that doesn't change that this is still a huge blow to it in Japan.

Nintendo has effectively shifted a lot of attention away from Vita in the one place it'll have some market presence before year's end, with MH3G for 3DS this year and MH4 in the future; with no plans yet for Vita.

I love threads like this, no matter which fanbase has been 'robbed' of the game in question

That's totally awesome. I have no intention to buy or even play this game, because Monster Hunter is a repetitive grindfest, but as long as it hurts Sony I am happy.

I don't really understand that mentality but ok.
