Is there any point to Vita's existence? Really, someone answer me this honestly. Let's analyze:
Vita, and unfortunately 3DS, have suffered from ipad and iphone domination in the US and EU, but they still have a shot in Japan, so let's look at Japanese centric million selling franchises that people can look forward to on each platform shall we?
3DS
- Mario Kart - awesome new iteration, looks superb
- Mario - It's Mario, 'nuff said
- Monster Hunter 3G - It's MH. On 3DS. Exclusive. 'Nuff said.
- Monster Hunter 4 - See Monster Hunter 3G
- Pokemon - First pokemon in 3D with augmented reality, will sell a couple of trillion units
- Professor Layton - new iterations all 3DS exclusive
- Inazuma Eleven - see Professor Layton
- Dragon Quest - whether it's joker or xi, it'll be exclusive
- KH3D - brand new kh adventure on the 3DS
- FF - spin off or, most likely, FFVIIR. Will sell 700 million units.
- MGS3DS - Yes it looks horrible, but it's there, and it's the only place you can play it in 3D
- Resident Evil Revelations - Yep, a proper RE on portables, looks pretty awesome if I may say so myself
- Nintendogs+Cats - not as big as it used to be, but it still is a long burner
- Brain Training - just imagine for a second the types of puzzles they can make in 3D
- Animal Crossing - this will be awesome, and if you say otherwise you're wrong
- Fire Emblem - an appetizer for Adventure Wars
- Luigi's Mansion - this will keep the ball rolling
- Other Nintendo franchises
PSV
- FFX - port of a 10 year old game, also playable, and looking better on PS3
- MGS2/3 - see FFX
- Hot Shots - this franchise has lost steam, not a system seller anymore
- Gran Turismo - franchise has also lost steam, sold 200k on PSP in Japan
- Tales of Innocence R - this franchise sells better on consoles
- SCEJ games - good games, not system sellers
So, I ask again, is there any point to PSV? Should Sony cut their losses and focus on PS3 and PS4?
