Kid Icarus may have been delayed until 2012 but there's a bonus for Pit fans as Nintendo is planning to release 3D Kid Icarus animations.

Yes, they're currently developing 3D Kid Icarus animations with some critically acclaimed Japanese anime production houses. 

The animations will be made available free of charge via the Nintendo Video service to 3DS owners worldwide.

It will certainly make a change from Oscar's Oasis!

I wonder what anime studios Nintendo/Project Sora are working with.  Madhouse (Death Note) is a possibility as they did the cut scenes for Solatorobo.  I would quite like Bones (Soul Eater, Darker than Black, Fullmetal Alchemist), but I have a hunch that it's not them.  Whoever does them, I will be excited to see what the final product will look like, maybe it could prove to be the 'killer app' for Nintendo Video, perhaps.

So, they are delaying to let it get more exposure first?

The question is will these be full length episodic releases. or 5-minute shorts to promote Kid Icarus? I think if Nintendo went the route Microsoft did and released an actual anime series with full length 20-30 min episodes then this would be a huge success. Millions of 3DS owners would tune in to see the anime. Not to mention in 3D the anime would look amazing I have never seen anime in 3D, I think the anime would definitely boost interest and sales in Japan more then anywhere else. However I suspect the anime would have a positive effect on North American and European sales as well.

Its a great idea, then if its very successful Nintendo could release the season on Blu-Ray and DVD. Maybe even air it on television like Kirby and Pokemon are. This could lead to toy deals and even a movie deal if Nintendo played their cards right, they could turn Kid Icarus into a huge block buster franchise. It has all the potential, imagine a live action film being made!

Kid Icarus has so much potential I hope Nintendo uses every drop!

This should help promote the game (especially in Japan). I am interested in possibly getting this game once I get a 3DS. I'll have to start budgeting better because my 3DS wanted list is starting to grow.

Oh fuck yeah. I love Production IG. Never have seen any of Shaft's work, but that style looks good to me

Nintendo Video.... Sigh.... I can't download any movie on Nintendo Video cause I am not in the US. So I guess it's gonna be the same for this too... Hope they will open Nintendo Video to ASIAN 3DS user.....
