Nintendo 3DS: The 3D Will Mean Something In The Next Zelda Game For Nintendo 3DS

The Legend of Zelda series producer, Eiji Aonuma, has hinted to Game Informer that the next Zelda game for the Nintendo 3DS will be reliant on 3D to offer a brand new gameplay experience to players.

Aonuma said that he expects to be able to do something “very interesting” on the system. He gave me one highly suggestive hint, leading me to believe that the team is further along than just thinking about the new title: “It will be a game in which having 3D will mean something.”

What do you think?

I'm glad they're trying to find a killer app for 3D, it really hasn't been there yet. But I think it think might be risky to rely too much on a feature that not everybody can use, and many people get tired of using after some time.

First thought is that this is solid proof that Nintendo isn't about to drop the 3D from the 3DS. Haters can GTFO now.

Second thought is ambivilence. I love Zelda, but after Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks, I'm kinda burnt out on the series. I have a reservation on Skyward Sword deluxe edition or whatever it's called, so I'm still a huge fan and looking forward to 'em... but I feel like Nintendo's been going this direction with all their first-party titles that's diverging from the kind of gaming they used to cater towards (and I don't mean hardcore vs casual... it's just this feel that their games lack now, and they all have this flashy shiny look that doesn't appeal to me either). If Skywar Sword can win back my love, then you can count on me being stoked for this title too. For now, I'm going to be cautiously eyeing it.

Xxactly what I was gonna say

My thought is there making the game unplayable for people that cant see 3D, i also would like to hear what they have in mind as i cant think of anyway to use 3D as a game mechanic as tilting the screen to look round objects is not possible.

Sounds interesting. Nice to know there is going to be a 'proper' zelda on 3ds rather than just a remake.

If you have two working eyes, you can see 3D, period. If you have trouble, it's not that you're incapable of seeing it; it's that you're incapable of figuring out how to focus on it.

Sounds interesting though I hope its a older link for the 3ds for some reason.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I kind of wish they would give zelda to somebody else over there at nintendo....apparently one of the guys whos been the producer of mario since the N64 would like to make a zelda game...he asked anouma if they could swap places in an Iwatas Asks...Anouma said no :( The only game that guy worked on was Zelda OOT so i'm sure he has some credibility even though he's only been working on mario for the past 16 years...

Strong and passionate, I tend to be misunderstood, sometimes even feared. I don't want to fight, I don't want to cause trouble, all I ask is a little love, and a little peace. If I don't get what I want, I get angry, and throw barrels and flaming oil at whatever's stopping me. What Video Game Character Are You?
