Forums - Nintendo Discussion - IGN : " The Nintendo 3DS Must Relaunch "

IGN article :http://ie.ds.ign.com/articles/119/1193292p1.html

I think if Nintendo does this, it will backfire tremendously. Even Nintendo isn't dense enough (...I hope... I'm starting to have doubts) to burn nearly 6 million of their customers like that, right ?

What's are your thoughts ?
discuss.

Am I the only one who doesn't think that a second circle pad is important at all?

you are not...

especially with the touch screen and the motion controls of the 3DS.... I don't understand what all the fuss about the second pad is

People just want the 3DS to turn into a PSP, I think.

A relaunch isn't necessary, while it would be useful, it would be too costly.

What they need to do is build games around the limitations their system has, and not make add-ons which will be confusing and costly.

...A re-design wouldn't hurt either (longer battery life, slimmer etc.)

 yep, I agree as well.

How will I use the add-on circle pad if I have the Nyko battery pack on my 3DS? Also, I cannot put the original backside back on because while I was trying to get the battery cover off, I accidentally drilled 2 of the 4 screws into the hardware and wore them out, so they are embedded inside the system... Yes, I know. I'm SCREWED lol

I think they should, and anyone with an old 3DS can upgrade to a new one free of charge, free delivery and get 1 free non retail game for the trouble. Any old 3DS's traded in store, get sent to Nintendo, and Nintendo have to refund the retailer.

The 3DS is going to likely go on and sell 50 - 100 mill, 6 mill now (where a lot won't even be that bothered) will be forgotton about in a few years, it'd be a lot less worse than RROD, and MS got over that just fine.

Everyone is overestimating the importance of the circle pad. Likely Nintendo will prevent games from requiring it, given that it is optional even in the game it was built for (Monster Hunter Tri G), then it will likely be optional in most cases, unless Nintendo starts to design around it as a peripheral

My guess is the peripheral will fade into relative obscurity like the others, unless a new model comes very soon that has the stick on it, but we'll have to wait on that

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It depends. Some developers may require that second nub to be there in order to play games. A lot of users will not know that and will get incredibly irritated. Nintendo kinda screwed the pooch this time with the 3DS.
