So, I finally started playing RE 3D last week which I bought about a month ago since i already completed Zelda 3DS and i must say that It has significantly exceeded my expectations.

Since its just the Mercenaries mini game, I thought that it would suck but since there is a shortage of good 3Ds games, i bought it just the same. Anyways, I have  now clocked in over 25 hours of play and this is what i think of the game

Single Player - more fun than i thought. Been trying to always beat my high score. Though some stages are plain hard. The highest rating I could get on level 5 stages was B plus I couldnt beat  5-5 for the life of me. I may not be the greatest player out there but i dont suck that much as i managed to get S and SS on levels 1-4 (not to mention i survived all 15 waves in 4-5 which to me is an achievement as I'm not really good with Resident evil games) but stage 5-5 could use a little toning down. Anyways, even just playing the single palyer will provide you with hours and hours of fun. I like using Jill as her Knee attack is quite strong. I also like rebecca as she's fast. I usually prefer rebecca's weapon set as i find the granade launcher a great life saver when being surounded by enemies with no way out. but i dont spam GLs mind you. I usually try to get the kill via melee to get additional time.

Multiplayer - Since i couldn't get pass 5-5 i tried playing online. but to my horror i almost always get a 006-0116 error and cant connect. but on the few times that i manage to join a game, i found that it was just as fun as the single player, only a whole lot easier as you get help trying to keep the combo alive. I've had some duo mode with a variety of dudes. There was this one dude who used HUNK who was like some kinda killing machine. I joined hi s game on 4-1 and for every 1 zealot i droped he was able to kill 3...i was like WTF?! then i ran to where he was to see WTF he was doing to do that shit and saw that he had the thunder skill thingy equiped.. lol! 4-1 is one of my more liked stages as i've had 2 sesions with 2 different HUNKS where we managed to actually link a 150 combo and kill all enemies within a combo!

Of course for every great parter, there are some awful ones. I may not be that good but i get the job done and manage to stay alive without help not to mention i can help keep the combo going. I joined a guy using Barry I think, and he was CAMPING! firs  I was like "where the hell is he?" then i saw him inside a house on the second floor sniping... DAMN! then there was this guy who just kept on dying and dying and dying. and another was with  another HUNK while playing 4-5. were were doing great and reached wave 15 and was 2 kills away from completing the stage then the connection dropped. I dont know if his connection droped coz mine was fine or if he was just a troll who went "HAHA U NOT GET MEDAL HAHA!" if he is a troll, jokes on him coz i already got that medal on my own lol!

I can go on on the aweful partners I managed to connect to but since I almost always get the damn connection error, I just deal with it. Imagine having to carry the two of you when you know that you yourself are only average in skill...well maybe a little above average as i've been steadily been improving. before i use to get killed all the time when the fat majinis, chainsaw majinis, super salvador and other bosses show up.Bbut now i can take on two chainsaw majinis at the same time (as long as i have ample amo and about 6 granades) otherwise i'll just run the other direction :P

To those who think this game is a waste of money, i say, its not and go buy it and enjoy some RE mercenaries on the 3DS.single player is loads of fun and online play adds more fun to your already fun sp experience.

also, add me if you like. not that i'd really be able to play duo coz 19 out of 20 times i get the 006-0116 error but hey, its worth a try :)

Resident Evil Mercenaries was always fun, it's a shame you had to PAY for it in Resident Evil 5.

It was so addictive in Resident Evil 3 + 4, I basically unlocked everything you could possibly unlock in these modes (handcannon, rocket launcher).

Reviews for the Mercenaries 3D weren't that great though, have you played any other Mercanary modes in Resident Evil?

^ yeah. its a good thing that i got the gold move edition when my ps3 was still alive. though i never did play mercenaries in RE5. not really sure why..maybe coz i suck at Resident evil games and am just know starting to get better at it. so yeah, the answer is no, i havent played any other modes in resident evil. just this RE 3DS

I got it due to a drought in the 3DS library and I didn't even enjoy RE Mercs in any of the other RE games. I wound up enjoying it quite a bit. Leveling up your character is fun and the graphics and sounds are top notch--even the zombies that have weird animation in the distance. It's weird that I can't recommend this game to people and yet, I have so much fun with it! Maybe you and I can play online sometime.

I wish it were like Gears of War 2's Horde Mode, though.  That would have been perfect and fit the mood a bit better here than in Gears!

The game was bombed not because of how fun or not fun it was but rather because of it's "innovative" way of protecting itself against used game sales, so it isn't a surprise the game actually is fun.

I know, i just tried it once in RE5 and gave up on it.But now I'm having tons of fun playing. I do recommend 3DS owners to buy this game as its great. RE fans would love this, but the others, well, maybe they'd feel riped off or something. But still, if you can get it discounted, or if you dont mind the one save shit (it saves you the trouble of unlocking the skills and other characters lol) get it used as this game is lots of fun. i've never really bean a fan of online play, but this is one time that i would recommend a game purely on its online merits.

Yeah, maybe we could play online sometime, though i highly doubt that as i always get errors when trying to join games which really sucks. I was online just a few minutes ago and was trying to get a few duo games before working on my mini thesis but i just couldnt connect ot anyone. I tried joining about 10 games and tried hosting 1 and nothing. maybe later this evening ill be lucky...or maybe note...i'm lucky to even get 2 online games a day... good thing that most of the time, i get good partners...and some campers lol

Id do the router fix i've been reading around the net but I dont have a router and am just using connectify to turn my laptop into a hotspot. sucks for me I guess.

Never really played gears of war, even when i had the chance when i had a x360. I chose to play eternal sonata :P and some other shit games before it went bye bye. I suck.. why does my consoles always die on me? my 360 (2 of them) my ps3, my current psp (well my sons actually but its on the fritz right now and the home menu keeps coming up when in game), my ds lite (both of them)..well to be fair, one of the dsl's buttons rubber gave, must be due to excessive button a mashing and the other one's hinge broke.

true that. but if you're really dont have the money and want to buy this used, i dont see why not. sure, the single save may suck but you could look at it positively...you dont have to unlock the skills at its already there ready for use lol!

or if you have one of those pc to ds save thingy you could just maybe corrupt the save file and maybe the game cart would reset itself..

Got to play 3 online games today. One was ok, the other could have been better, the third one was almost perfect! this krauser guy and I got a 149 combo going with 4 min to spare in 4-1...too bad it took us a good minute and a half trying to look for the last zealot effectively ruining the potential 150 combo.

You don't have to pay for Mercenaries in Resident Evil 5! I've played for hours and hours with my brother and never paid a cent of DLC for RE5.
