Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy XIII-3? Square Enix planning ahead

I'm really interested in FF XIII-2. From what I've seen, the game looks much better than XIII, which I still enjoyed despite its numerous flaws. If XIII-2 is any good, I wouldn't mind a third game, as I really like the characters and the universe.

As for those complaining about Versus. The game isn't even done by the same team. So I don't see why this is supposed to be related. Complain about Nomura, not Kitase.

Okay, let me clarify why people are upset over this. SE owns both teams, the one with Kitase, and the one with Nomura, there employees of SE. Now that we have that straightened out, SE in order to fully finish the first game, halted developement on Versus, moved the majority of Nomura's team to Kitase to concentrate on XIII. Then moved them back to Nomura to start producing Versus again, which is why they showed a trailer in Jan 2010 as they are making progress.

Now with Versus missing TGS this year, it's evident SE is fully concentrating on XIII-2 now. They announced Versus way too soon and alot of people are awaiting it since Square keeps taking there sweet time with it. Alot of people, including me, want SE to finish what they announced already instead of a possible XIII-3 because that would further stall Versus production most likely as it was done in the past. Furthermore, SE also only releases a big game like FF or DQ once every fiscal year (They have mentioned this before) as it would affect profit margins over a multi year course. They don't want to release 2 great games 1 year and have 0 for the next fiscal year either. So they have alot to consider when it comes to several games over different platforms during a fiscal year. As to my point, it all affects the fans, one certain move by Square could affect the the production, year etc for Versus. That is where the complaints is coming from....

Wow. Well, I wonder what this means for the conclusion of XIII-2's story. I do hope that no shortcuts are taken because a third game is on the way to explain it.

you just summed up how i feel about Assassins Creed -sigh- even though the core game is good.

Ten Years of FFXIII
We could be playing the latest numbered Final Fantasy sub-series for two generations.

Why can't Final Fantasy 9 get a sequel?

"I don't know what this Yamcha is, but it sounds just like Raditz."

I think most people are complaining about a possibility of another sequel (yes, I'm aware companies register domains all the time without using them) is that it's probably holding up development of Versus. It was said that Square halted development on Versus at one point, so that team could help finish up FFXIII. I'm sure it's probably the same case again with XIII-2. You shouldn't announce a game and barely talk/show anything for 5-6 years now.

for the love of all that is holy, i hope nothing comes from this!! Why does SE have such a hard-on for this world and characters. It feels like they are trying to force us to like Cocoon, Pulse and all that stupid crap. The other 50% or more will continue to hate it. 13 will never be like 7, hell i dont even think it will be an 8, i rather see a sequel to that

If it is any consolation, SE apparently have patented FF Type 1, 2, 3 and more despite not having launched Type 0 yet
