"Listen up, I'm not coming back to the industry to sell some watered down, get-grandma-off-the-couch weak-sauce".

There are no words!

But the truth of the matter is that Sony is just losing themselves sales by insulting the expanded audience. I don't know about anyone else, but I've bought 5 copies of kinect adventures, and am willing to spend half my paycheck every week on these shitty games, because THEY ARE FUN for the 5 minutes a day I get to play them. I never get bored of those games, and if you ask me, SLOWNY needs to get with the times, because shitty commuter games are the future.

Who's he really insulting though? He's there to promote games, and pokes a little fun in the process. He didn't say the "competition" was weak, or sucks or "shitty", he just made a statement that's meant to spark a laugh. There wasn't even a hint that he was directing that at Kinect or the Wii specifically - so you'd be jumping to conclusions either way.

In the end, it's no worse than Sega vs Nintendo of the past. In fact, "Sega does what Nintendon't" was far worse than anything Kevin Butler said.

Edit: Having a second look, I now wonder if you were being sarcastic....?

LOL, no it doesn't, it means Sony failed at attracting the causals, so they've decided to try and be ambassadors to the core gamers. Bit like how Lady Gaga panders to gays to get sales/fanbase.

Anyway I think the 'It only does ____' is great advertising from Sony, Kevin Butler, not so much. But then Sony's advertising has never been great so I can see why they want to hang onto a good thing.

Also CGI who are you kidding (actually who am I kidding) he doesn't need to name Wii/Kinect to know who he's aiming that at. 'pew pew pew' .. you'd need to be a divvy not to get it. Again he's just pandering to the insecure hardcore.

The "pew, pew, pew" ad was obvious - not the case here. Regardless, the only people who'd be bothered by it would be insecure. Companies poke fun all the time, if people take it personal, the joke's on them. How many times has Microsoft or Nintendo said something in regards to Sony this gen? It happens, and I see no reason to take it personal. Buy the games you like and forget the rest.

I don't think anyone's going to be bothered by it tbh, slagging off the competition rarely works as good advertising. In fact the only time I've ever seen it work is I'm a Mac, and you know how deluded Apple fans are so no wonder they protect it. But yeah, the fact that the pew pew pew thing was done means Sony are insecure/jealous ect ect.

I'm not talking about what MS/Nintendo or even Sony have said, heck even MS have said when talking about Kinect 'This isn't just your simple waggle' which I'd class exactly the same, I'm not sure they'd even acknowledge the Wii these days in that vein, they don't need to, they're doing v well.

The idea behind the "Long Live Play" ads could prove to be meaningful during the holidays (especially since it includes the $249 price). They just need to air it as much as they can. My biggest issue with Sony in regards to their sales has been marketing this gen (the PS1 & PS2 eras were FAR stronger in this field).

They have the right content (content for everyone, really), they just need to tell more people about it!

You and me both.

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

I like the Kevin Butler ads a lot on a personal level - they're always funny. I don't think they're good as actual advertisements though; this one's quite complex (only avid gamers - the sort who have already made up their minds - are going to understand anything for the first 60 seconds) and there's hardly any product placement (well over a minute before it's clear it's a PlayStation ad, and almost 75 seconds before you see an actual product).
