Forums - Sony Discussion - What The PS3's library would need to be ATLEAST comparable to the ps2's

hmm isn't this more about will it be able to match the nostalgia of the ps2 era..I mean don't get me wrong ps2 was the best console I have known at the time BUT ps3 has some truly amazing games that makes it shine on its own

the lacking area would be RPG's I suppose but I'm not a fan of RPG's in general bar Valkyria Chronicles...on FPS/TPS/Action etc PS3 is on par imho...

The only thing ps3 is lacking is JRPG thats it....

Ps2 didn't have uncharted quality action adventure.
ps2 didn't have LBP create and share like games.
ps2 didn't have Infamous polished sandbox game.
ps2 didn't have polished shooters like KZ3-2 or RESISTANCE.

The lack of JRPGs makes me want to regret buying a PS3. It's not like I have any choice in that matter though. I guess that's the big reason why I'm more a handheld gamer than a home console gamer and probably one of the reasons why I'm excited for the Vita.

i wish all the jrpg devs would focus more on the ps3 and not so much on the handhelds

i like the way jrpg's feel on console's more for some reason

like crisis core for psp. when i first got my psp i got God of War: chains of olympus and Crisis Core(because i wanted a final fantasy/rpg game)

when i first purchased the psp i was planning to get Grand theft auto but my friend that i was with was like "DONT GET GTA! it's not like the one's on the ps2! get God Of War!"

i liked crisis core at 1st but then 1 day i sat down and actually thought about it and then i was like "i cant believe that i actually bought this stupid ass game.."

and i felt the same way when i played kingdom hearts:chain of memories for gba and kingdom hearts:358/2 for ds (it just made me think "why wont square just make 1 for the ps3?")

dont get me wrong there were handheld games that i really liked like Mario&Luigi Superstar Saga, a lot of other jrpg REMAKE'S and a few other game's but still i guess im more of a console-jrpg guy

imo, the ps3 has surpassed the ps2.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Here's another dissapointed ps3 owner. Lack of turn-based Rpg's is what makes it hurt the most. Although i'm trying to get into other games nothing comes close to why i liked the ps1 and 2 so much.

I doubt this will ever change on the ps3 which is pretty *#@#$@! sad.

Don't worry, I know, I take everything with a pinch of salt.

it's needs to stop pretending to be a xbox and be playstation.

Wasnt the Xbox trying to be a Playstation first? Therefore the PS3 is still a Playstation.

Not really, Xbox was pushing what some people consider western gaming with added online experience. Now nothing wrong with someone using that formula, but like xxain said, playstation seemed to tone down the japanese gaming experience that made me love the brand. To me playstation has always been great source of both western and japanese game. While xbox is excellent at western gaming.

I may have been out of date, i just remember Xbox turning some of PS exclusives to a multiplatform level and as well trying to add alot of JRPGS as PS did once.  But very true the PS3 has toned down with Japanese gaming.  I miss it and hope that new Ghibli Studio game makes it over to the west.
