Leo-j said you were a Nintendo fanboy. What the hell are you doing with a PS3? ! LMAO!!!

Leo-j has accused me of being everything from a Nintendo fanboy to an MS fanboy. It wouldn't surprise me if he called me an N-Gage fanboy one of these days.

Lil' Leo doesn't take criticism of Sony products very well. :D

rocketpig, can't you give us a full review of the game after having seen some trailers
?

Back on topic, enjoy it, it's an incredible game, although I enjoyed the second half less than the first

Lol.  I think Shams is the one guy I'd vote down in the user elimination game.

I am nearing completing Uncharted and I have to say.  This is the best of the best.  It truely is an astounding game and for me, is the game that truely announces the beginning of the next generation of gaming.  The game is just so much fun.  It is the closest so far you can get to playing an interactive part in an Indiana Jones or Romancing the Stone style of movie.  Everything is orchestrated so seemlessly that you feel you are playing an integral part in the whole movie story just for there to be another twist or action element.

The controls are slick and easy to manage.  Yes there really is no pinpoint jumping or such, but that is the beauty of the game.  No need to fanny around trying to edge closer and closer to make the perfect jump that basically destroys the flow of the game.  The environments and big and varied and are so beautiful.

Graphically, the game is head and shoulders above anything else out at the moment.  Character models, environment models, textures, lighting and animation is simply outstanding.  The game also plays smoothly with no real noticeable slowdown at all.  The water has to be seen to be believed though.  No don't look at the water in the first few levels.  You really need to see the "Heading Upriver" level in the 2nd half of the game to see how graphically superior this game is.  Never has water looked so good and realistic.  Jetskiing upriver with river rapid-esque water flowing down towards is just amazing.  Lighting is also spectacular as well, and it's the subtlety of the lighting that makes it stand out.  In the last level I played, your shadow was cast on a wall 100 (game) yards away.  I can't believe some people have moaned about the textures in the game!  "Every texture being wet looking"...what the Feck?  It is true that there are a large number of wet stone textures used in the game, but these happen to be in damp or wet environments in the game.  You don't see wet textures while scaling the walls of the fort or running thorugh the courts in the game.  But you do see wetness while running about dungeons and the like that happen to be flooded areas (part of the story).

Anyway, all in all, the game is a sight to behold and it plays beautifully.  In addition to this.  I could quite easily play the game again from the start...so does that mean it's go replayability.   Not since Shenmue, have I been in total awe of what a game presents and produces for me.  To me, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune does for Next Generation gaming, what Shemnue did for last generation and Tomb Raider did for the Playstation.

If you own a PS3, you NEED to get this game.  Also, it's fantastic news that Uncharted 2 is on the cards.

Don't vote him down because he did that. If you're going to vote him dow, do it for a good reason, like always putting hyphens where they don't belong.

see, Davydee's review is a good one, based on having played the game not seen it

I'm a few hours in and while my review isn't as glowing as DavyGee's, this is a very good game. There are some aspects of the controls that bother me (God DAMN it, if you can't think of a good reason to use motion controls, don't use them at all) and while the game looks extremely good, I don't think it's anything ground-breaking. "Extremely polished" is the term I would use. There are occassional glitches but nothing worth getting riled up about.

Overall, the story is a lot of fun thus far and the characters are amusing though the voice acting leaves something to be desired. Some of the acting falls flat, which is a shame considering how good the writing is, particularly for a video game.

The game definitely evokes a lot of feelings from other games and genres... The cover system reminds you a bit of Gears or GRAW, the Action button has recent Zelda offerings written all over it, some of the platforming reminds me of Tomb Raider (the good ones), and the enemy AI definitely brings back memories of Lemmings. Naughty Dog did a very good job of taking other elements and polishing them up quite well. I wish there weren't quite so many shooting elements in the game but we'll see how I adjust as the game progresses.

I'll definitely have a full review of the game up later but so far, color me impressed. This game has in spades what so many others are missing; fun.

Am I the only person who thought the implementation of motion sensing was good?

I hate it because it's superfluous. There's no reason for it and it jars me out of what I was doing with the analog sticks. While the grenades aren't quite as bad, they still bug me. I really don't want to stop and worry about my controller position in the middle of a firefight when it's far more effective to just slap the right analog up to get the desired effect.

I need to check to see if I can turn them off but I want to see if there are other implementations later in the game that don't bother me quite as much.

So far in the PS3 world, Heavenly Sword is the only game where I thought the motion controls were well done. Every other game I have played with motion controls felt as if they were tacked on because the Sixaxis had that feature, not because they added to gameplay.

Okay, after playing for several hours, I have this to say about Uncharted:

It's a piece of crazy sweetness!  I no longer regret buying my PS3.
