Hell to the motherfucking NOOOOO. Its not my fault the government recklessly spends money like a rich trust-fund baby. If they want out of debt, learn to control spending. I wouldn't donate a dime to the government.

In my opinion (key words, in my opinion) the only government spending should be on defence, education (including post-secondary), universal health care (two tiered system), police, fire department, road work, and a few other select things. Spending on welfare, workers comp, supporting charities, and other shit like that has got to stop.

People need to take responsibility for themselves and the government needs to stop babying people and bailing them out when they get into financial trouble. People need to live within their means and also put some money into savings so you have a safety net for when you run into trouble. I know there are extreme circumstances but I've gotta think 95% who are in debt, are in there because of their own actions (overspending, not having a safety net, using credit cards, taking cash advances, etc). I always laugh when people say banks are the bad guy when they take your home away...how are they the bad guy? Banks are a business not a charity. If you loan a guy $10,000 so he can buy a car and he stops paying you back you aren't going to say "don't worry, keep the car. You can pay me back later"...you're gonna take the car away from that lazy fucker and tell his ass to take the bus.

Nope...they take enough from me as it is. If things were changed, then perhaps...but as it stands now, no.

If Canada was going down in flames and I had enough cash to not only survive but donate to the country. Then yes I would donate, but right now my country is doing fairly well and I pay enough taxes as do all the other civilians that the country doesn't really need our help. I do donate my time to charity organisations working in my community but my dollars are sent to third world countries who need the help way more then my Government does.

Now also would I donate to my Government if my country was going down? I would likely donate to third party aid organisations operating in my country. Unless we were being invaded in which case I'd donate every dime I have to the military and join up as a volunteer to kick invader ass!

But if famine and such were hitting my country and homelessness was way up and 75% didn't have jobs. Assuming I still had employment and money to give yah I'd be donating to local charities and aid organisations not likely the Government!

Man if their was a God that genuinely forgave sins for money. Shit I'd be trying to make every dime I could to pay my way to heaven. Thankfully thats not the case and God cares about the heart. Dang God not being superficial I guess I'd be going to heaven but what about all of Africa? Crap wouldn't wanna be them!

My country? Yeah, the government generally spends money pretty well.

I'd rather campaign for an increases in taxes though, that way actually meaningful amounts of revenue could be raised for the government.

Edit: Though I must say NZ already has pretty fair and efficient progressive tax system that until recently has raised more revenue than expenditure (deficit for the last few years since the crisis struck) so I'm actually not for either donating to government or raising taxes here at the moment.

The money would probably go to incompetent banks or corporations so fuck that...I'd donate equipment to schools or hospitals instead.

I wouldn't donate my savings or anything but I'd be willing to pay higher taxes. Also, if there were a year without tax returns (or if tax returns were only given every other year), I'd be all for it.
