Forums - Gaming Discussion - Woah Woah Woah! Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi has a Full Create-a-Character!? Just became a must Buy

Namco Bandai Games has recently posted a story and features list on their official Dragon Ball games web site and it has confirmed two new exciting things!

The first one is character creation and customization! Have Spike and Namco Bandai Games really answered our wish here!? Last month we posted on wanting the ability to create characters like in sports games. Lo and behold in the features list, the very first bullet says players can create and customize their own characters, including what they look like, how they play, and what special attacks they have! We’ve played with the same Dragon Ball Z characters a million times already, so giving us the ability to create our own character would be a pure win by developer Spike! Hopefully we haven’t misinterpreted!

In the first Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi Developer Interview, there was confirmation that Dragon Ball GT characters will be playable. Unless we are misunderstanding, the second confirmation is that there will be some kind of Dragon Ball Z movie and Dragon Ball GT story arc!

Below is the story and features list from Namco Bandai.

The upcoming Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi is currently in development by Spike Co. Ltd., who are honing their considerable talents to create a new landmark game for the Dragon Ball Z franchise. The game features upgraded environmental and character graphics, with designs drawn from the original manga series. Destructible battlefields, including massive craters and ki blasts cutting across the sky deliver a more dynamic experience and immediate sense of urgency to the exhilarating fights. An enhanced story mode drops players into the rich Dragon Ball Z universe, filled with beloved characters and powerful enemies. An accessible battle system allows gamers of all ages to hold their own in fast-paced battles, while still retaining tactical depth for hardcore fans.

  • Complete Character Creation & Customization – Appearance and attributes can be customized such as model body, face, hair, attire, fi ghting style and more! Additionally fi ghting style and special moves can be selected.
  • Enhanced Battle Mechanics – “Impact Break” system allows large scale environment destruction. Improved mechanics allow for faster long-to-short range fights. There is also an added health recovery system and a vast collection of more cinematic camera angles.
  • Deeper Brand Representation – Fight presentations more closely mirror the animation series. Battle against a new group of giant bosses as in the animation series. Experience 15 animated scenes with bosses up to 15x the size of playable characters! Also enjoy bonus level from movie and Dragon Ball GT series!

:O I am totally sold on this game!

Yea its great and all that they are finally adding in Create-a-character, but the game's battle mechanics itself looks f**cked up. If you have seen any of the battles, you will see that 80% of it is cutscenes.

Even a friggin ki blast ends up triggering a cutscene where a game of (what it seems like) rock paper scissor ensues to see if you defend against it or get hit. I was really hoping they would make the fighting system similar to BT3, but currently I am not sold at all. Hopefully, it will turn out well in the end though.

wow sounds nice.

i would say day one for me but i'm sure my bro would by it, but i'll have to in the end.

for me the dream has come true(waiting for smash brothers and other fighting ip's to join the mix) and now it begins again.

The problem with DBZ games is they go over the same exact story every time.

DBZ is part of the fighting game genre.. A genre in which story is irrelevant.

how are they still making these?! Who is buying them? im a huge DBZ fan but ive only bought Budakai 2 and Shin Budakai for PSP. At least there is a new mode this time out

I wonder if you'll be able to download other's created characters over Live or PSN. That would be pretty nice.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."
