Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo Will Never Surrender

Im not a fan of nintendo and have never owned one of their consoles/handhelds but im with them on this all the way. No way should they be giving up their IPs cos of a bunch of stupid greedy investors who only have their eyes on the short term gain. First, this may initially improve their shares and make them profit but in the longterm it will hurt them badly. Their IPs are what make them successful . Secondly, as i have mentioned above investors are stupid - they are the ones responsible for a lot fo the price hike in petrol, they are involved in the volatility in the stock markets recently. Lets face it - the world is a better place without investors (not very practical but who cares). Lets all see nintendo give them the boot up the behind.

Well I am glad. Iwata stated the day Nintendo stops making hardware is the day they stop making software. Miyamoto also commented last generation that if Nintendo stopped making hardware none of his creations would appear on any other consoles. Together Miyamoto and Iwata ensure that Nintendo will never go third party, which is the best path anyways.

All these moronic investor's are likely non-gamers. Back in the 90's I remember reading reports that many of Nintendo's investors were bonified gamers. But when Wii and DS made so much money tons of these shit heads bought stocks. Fact is these investors don't care about games they care about profit margins and profit alone. Nintendo has been a very profitable company, but these investors see alittle loss of profit and they want to jump ship.

I would like to see Nintendo exec's and founders buy up a controlling 51% share of the company and ensure that investors like these moron's never get the chance to ruin Nintendo. Listen Nintendo has over 10-billion dollars its not going anywhere, your profits are down alittle but you know Nintendo is good for it. Nintendo will return to profitability on its own terms soon enough.

Heck I wouldn't be suprised if Nintendo expanded its market abit. But to sell out and put their IP's on iOS devices or Android would be the biggest mistake they could possibly make!

You're not?!

The day Nintendo makes games for a non-Nitendo console, will be the day Nintendo won't be Nintendo anymore.

Nintendo is still making money and they're doomed?!!! Sony had lost nearly a billion to the PS3 and just recently become profitable; and you don't see them leaving the biz. This is another Nintendo is doomed shinanegan which quite frankly is getting old!!!

It's true that dedicated game devices are beginning to look beaten by the dominance of smart-phones and tablets. Certainly, 3DS and Wii U do not, at the moment, look anything like as promising as DS and Wii did a few years back during their heyday.

Noone expected the Revolution to even be a success in anyway. What is he talking about here?

True even Wii and DS didn’t look promising at the beginning

That's not entirely true. The DS didn't look so promising at the beginning, it's fortunes went way up in 2006. But the Wii looked promising from the beginning, at least to everyone besides the game industry. In fact, Nintendo shares jumped to their highest value since 2001 in 2006 on the day when they fully unveiled the Wii.

Well no one believed it would be the top selling console but that it would do better than GC. Even when it was selling huge amounts of consoles people thought it was a fad and that sales would fall very fast.

Their presentation was amazing back in E3 2006. I'm not surprised that investers saw promise in the device.
