How long before we see a Wii 2GB?  Nintendo admitted to regretting the Wii price point, here is their chance to cash in.

Lifetime Sales Prediction - 6/29/2013

wii2gb?

Yeah, increased internal flash.  Currently only 512 mb and from what I hear, the bane of VC console buyers everywhere.

you're suggesting a 2 GB internal memory instead of 512?  I think that would be an insignificant upgrade, though it would be nice if future Wii models had 2 GB for no price increase...but for your "Ultra Wii", I think an internal hard drive would be more significant and worthwhile, like 20 GB.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Nintendo is apparently working on better external storage compatibility and saving, rather than making us choose between SKUs.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Sounds good to me. Give me the ability to plug in an external (USB) hard-disk and I'll be happy!

They could always release a pack in the future with the Wii + hard disk if necessary.

All they really need to do is automate the process of copying data between the external storage device & internal RAM - and speed up the menu refresh (does slow down a lot when lots of channels are installed).

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

They are being super cautious about it though. The last thing they want is people to be able to plug in a USB HD with Wii game roms on it, and play them through there.

I'm gonna say this. External HDDs are nice and all, but I hate useing external stuff. The Wii's novelty factor comes from it's size. If you put a HDD on it, you double it's size. I also dont think the Wii has a big enough power supply to run a HDD off it's power, so the HDD would need external power. (not sure on this but I know it's close)

The Wii needs solid state memory. Just use an SD memory card. I've linked to 1gb ones many many times for like 8-12$.

8gb one here.

Not true, if you get one in the 2.5" form factor (laptop size) or 1.8", it would be about the size of an HDD based MP3 player.  Probably even smaller because you don't need battery as it would be usb powered.  That would definitely NOT double the size of the Wii and the per GB cost goes down from $8/GB to $1/GB.
