That goes to show that in an age where gaming devices are all over, prices of theses handhelds or consoles should not be higher for the average gamer. PS vita should also follow suit or go down the drain. At this point in time, there's nothing to wow gamers for a high price when people prefer gaming on their phones.

This number means nothing. Since a lot of people didn't buy the 3DS last weeks, because they were waiting for the price drop, this weeks numbers including several weeks. Moreover a new Pokemon game was released this week. We will have to wait until the holiday season to see the real impact of the price drop.

To be honest I expected a bump like this. I've been saying for long that the 3DS just needed a price cut and software and it would be a great success. Right now the price cut is here, so it just needs software.

and the too often used and rather ittitating "but but" thing is, in this case, way off.

There is no doubt whatsoever that the smartphone market will diminish handheld sales. I will bet you any amount of money you like the 3ds and Vita combined get nowhere near DS and PSP sales combined.
