AT OP:
Well hard for me to state if the numbers are wrong or not, but I am clearly not 8-16 years at least. I think we will find that a large number of DS users probarbly are between 8-16 but me personally think that 80% sounds a little bit wrong (even that those numbers probarbly is for USA not Japan), Reason? Well just follow the steps below and I shall try to explain.
1, 80% 8-16 years DS owners = 16,5 million. That leave 4,1 million in 0-8 and 16-infinity.
2, DS is probably one of the more popular gaming devices for kids, giving that we probarbly have at least 1 million users in the age group 0-8. That is pretty low I think but hey why not.
3, Brain Training (the first one) has sold in USA alone 2,23 millions (according to vgchartz). I belive that at least 90% of those sales are in the age above 16. Thats 2 millions users above 16.
4, That leaves 1! million extra users in the age group above 16, I don't know but are people actualy beliving that there isn't more than 1 million old school Mario fans in that age group that bought a DS for NSMB? I did...
The problem with the articel is that it doesn't state how the analyst, Wedbush Morgan (Patcher), how they did get the numbers. I personally think that the DS is huge with children and that we might have around 65-75% at 0-16. However I have problem to see that 80% of the users should be 8-16 just looking at my friends and some forums (not facts that either). Ds is a heaven for us that grow up with 2D gaming and that is missing those times.
