Just horrible sales across the board.

Rubbish, 277k for X360 in its 6th July is great, 2nd highest July for the console by a margin.

277k with many being given out for free does not impress me.

Have no idea how many are being given out for free, given the massive drop month over month it's obvious the PC deals didn't have nearly the same effect this month.

lol... that was mostly last month.

and even funnier.... 277k is 30% more than the PS3 managed in July last year

last year, the slimmer 360 came out, duh

The numbers are horrible, games are not selling, it's abvious Kinect has few impact right now, so giving free consoles help boost your numbers, school is like weeks away. The market is suffering, that's all.

The X360 deal is tied to back to school stuff though. People buy stuff for their universities in July and August mostly since college starts in August for just about every school. This is the worst month in five years Kowenicki I'm not being "anti-X360" by noting its down like everything else

Good work at VG with the X360 prediction, but seeing the numbers, I think there will be adjustements (X360 up and PS3 Down)

not that surprising. 360 just keeps killen em

The thing is though yeah it is not that great when you compare it to the past sales but MS are nowdays the only company to come out and say something. It is easy for us to criticise them when the others give us nothing.

Reading that report above they seem to indicate that if it was not for the 360 games sales would be terrible. If it is the worst month since 2006 with 360 having near half the market then what does it say about the other two? They need to man up and start putting their numbers out imo.

VGC did well this month in tracking of the 360 (even though it is still under-tracked for like the 8th month in a row or something now) but as yet we don't know the other 2 numbers. When we have those then we will have a better idea of how the market is right now imo. There are two interesting comments in those reports and that is that now NPD and EEDAR have said PS3 and 360 are pretty much neck and neck worldwide now, NPD going so far as to say they expect 360 to outsell PS3 worldwide for 2011. Which when you look at the VGC numbers makes that look a bit silly. Either NPD are seriously over-estimating the 360 or VGC have been over-estmating the PS3. I think most of the netural people know which is the more likely!

Have you looked at the figures? Its pretty clear Wii & PS3 didnt each drop almost 40% year over year, and so its X360 thats responsible for most of the drop in the industry now - not what Sony and Nintendo have done. This is particularly true given that X360 brings in more revenue than the other two do now each month. We know X360 is down 38% and PS3 / Wii are down a combined 28%. I'd imagine Wii and PS3 are both around 170k in NPD's figures - so they dropped maybe 80k / 45k while X360 dropped 200k, more than both combined.

Wii & PS3 sold 468,000 last July (combined), and X360 sold 443,500 last July....

Pretty much guarenteed to be a hugely crappy month overall just from those three figures.

Since PS3 was 215,000 and Wii was 254,000 last July odds are both dropped off pretty good given how bad sw was.

Barring a surprise price cut at Gamescom X360 should drop below 7m in the USA over a  12-month period starting the 12 months to August 2011

Whilst Wii could drop below 6 mill, don't see you mentioning that source, always such doom and gloom for either HD console.

We don't need more doom and gloom for Wii/3DS/Nintendo. There are enough of that.
