Should Nintendo develop a phone?

Yes a Nintendo phone would be awsome 32 33.68%

No, don't enter the phone market 46 48.42%

No don't develop a phone... 17 17.89%

Total:95

I think entering the phone market is a bad idea solely because of the iPhone.

It wont be able to compete

todays smartphone market is either android or iOS,and ninty could only utilize android or build their own operating system

Incidently, Nintendo has created an OS before.  Called ES.  Guess who bought the rights to ES from Nintendo in 2008?  Google.  They now co-own the copyright.

but how does that help nintendo?

Outside of obviously working closely with Google on OS projects, I can't say.  It was more an interesting factoid than any insinuation that a phone with Google is plausible.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Nintendo wouldn't be be able to compete in the phone market and it would take away resources from the games development (hardware and software). Not too mention they have nowhere near the manpower as another poster pointed out earlier.

Doubt they can actually break through this phone biz mainly because of Nintendo's image as a gaming giant and a kiddie platform. Then we even have to think about other stuffs like music, movies, apps. They just don't have that online structure yet as big as Apple or Sony and MS being implemented with the 3DS, how do you think they'll do it with a phone and their first one at that?

i don't doubt that ninty can make an OS,any company can make an OS

but why would google partner with ninty, what will google get here and if ninty goes android way then ninty name wouldn't matter and get lost on the crowd

Maybe, but not a phone entirely.

I don't understand why DSi ware has to be DS/3DS exclusive. If you make games, like a Pokemon farm to raise eggs in Pokemon Black/White, this will only encourage DS and 3DS play.

Making a Nintendo phone, no that wouldn't sell, but exclusively releasing DSi ware on Android phones, that might make sense.

Nope - they'd get slaughtered. They should consider software support for phones and tablets though. I think going forward we're going to see less focus on dedicated tech for portable gaming and a lot more focus on multi-function and a world where Nintendo should focus on getting their games on other peoples hardware.

Well this is what Sony said they would do with PS Suite, it's just nothing has happened yet and I certainly think it is a route that Nintendo could go

I think it is interesting, but I certainly hope that the focus stays with console gaming for a while to come, I need proper controls!!!

O prefer controls myself, just noting that at some point these guys need to realize they're missing a lot of potential software sales if not on other devices.  I fogot about the PS Suite stuff.  Have to check and see if it's actually showing some signs of life.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

No.
That market is too crowded already.
