Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wipeout HD - it's not fun

I got the game as a PSN wellcome back game, since I heared good things about it and I am a racing fan.

According to the statistics from the game I ran some 287 laps of various circuits, a total of 3+ hours of effective racing (since the laps are quite short), all on campaign mode, all on Novice. I estimate that 80% of that was frustration, 15% meh and 5% fun. There should not be 89% frustration on novice. Even admitting that I am awfull at this game, there should not be this amount of frustration on novice. If I were a game reviewer, I would be tempted to cathegorize this as trash based on 10% of the game, so that I don't have to play it anymore.

How can I enoy this game?

I would agree with you that it's trash. And since I have one of the PS1 games I can say that it's always been that way.

You are obviously a casual and therefore you don't deserve to enjoy this game. Also, it's not about fun but about 1080p @ 60fps!

That is one pointless post... nothing personal.

Wipeout is a mixed bag though... it's a tough game, and you do feel good when you do good. So that's how (I also got it from the Welcome back stuff)

You can't. It's only for people who like a challange.

I suggest some Sonic free riders as a therapy.

I did play the Limbo demo after (last night), and it did calm me down considerably. And I do enjoy a challange, but I guess not this one.

It's only fun when you are good at it.. and being good in wipeout means being flawless.. Which is quite hard and boring.. Wip3out is waaay better and waay more accessible then Fury HD.. and waaaay better music!

@OP
That's really lame man. MY GIRLFRIEND LOVES WIPEOUT. She really sucks (she's only played 2 games in her life, Heavy Rain being the other), but she'll probably kick your ass, which is very sad.

Wipeout HD is AWESOME: Beautiful, massive and challenging. It's SO cool to put on your own music tracks and hear them change as you jump and go through tunnels.

Learn to air-brake and play on the lower speed classes. If that doesn't work then go back to Sonic free riders.

I haven't played it in over a month, and have already started to suck, but I was getting quite a bit better after playing for only an hour or 2 when I first got it. I'm thinking this game just isn't meant for you.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

I really have to check out that Sonic game everyone loves so much :).

I tried to get good at it, concentrated on it and what not, and I did make progress, but I didn't feel it was worth it somehow. It's like I'm missing something important that would give the crafts handling consistency, which I don't feel is there all the time. So I struggle with it, I have to fight it, and I don't feel it's worth it when I beat it.
