if the cost of manufacturing goes down signifcantly then i don't see why Sony wouldn't make a new slim model price it $199  and when they announce PS4 drop PS3 price to $149.

price-cutting PS3 at the launch would only go against PS4 like the nintendo 3DS which is happening now

PS3 would go to $149 2 years before PS4 to earn PS3 some good sales in that time

i say PS4 at last will launch in 2014

don't see it unless the slim model cuts cost significantly.

well whts your veiw? come on. don't be scared.

This might come as a revelation to most, but this titles exclusive status has actually retarded its arrival. You would be playing this title right now were it not for its exclusive status. Given the fact that the PS3 is in third place, and only represents a bit over a quarter of the market. It is easy to see why this title wasn't given a high priority. It will only benefit the developer to delay this title as long as possible so that they can sell a multiple platform title in its place. Which will generate greater sales. Oh and do not act like this is bad for gamers, because it isn't. You aren't being deprived of a game to play, and more people are getting to play. You will still get this game in two to three years after the generation has ended. When the developer has no more excuses.

Ironically if you want this game sooner then you should hope that it goes multiple platform, because that is truly your best hope. Oh and delayed ports are a decidedly dumb idea. They hurt sales and hurt feelings. Nothing that is remotely positive comes from them. Anyway it is probably just worth forgetting about this game, because it is a long ways off. Not far from completion just far from launch.

why won't the cost go down

RSX and CELL size reduction would help alot

die size reduction

volume manufacturing

follow the price reduction from PS3's launch and you will understand

PS3 was making under $10 profit at $299 price in Q1(Jan-Mar2010) last year,it was mentioned by CFO of SONY.after that they had RSX size reduction.alot of PS3 have been manufactured since then so parts becoming common hence cheaper.the recent die reduction in new PS3 which took it from 3.2kg to 2.6kg.

and we still have 1 year before september 2011.

This makes no sense at all. How in the hell could working on more than 2 platforms be faster than just working on one??? Especially now that they are ass deep in the PS3.It takes extra time to have to recode all that stuff for 360. Which would delay even more. And no late ports are not dumb they give the development team time AFTER the game is completled to port on another console. Hell they could outsource the porting to another team

I've said this before, but they should just rename it FFXV, especially if it's a good FF.

I really see this/want this to happen. Certainly would make me feel better about this lengthy development time

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

why won't the cost go down: didn't say it wouldn't. the most logical step would be through a slim model.

RSX and CELL size reduction would help alot: agreed but we have more reports of a new PSthree the new chip sizes.

die size reduction: agreed the only way for a significat price cut.

volume manufacturing: i'm sure there will be an increase in volume with price cuts and and cost of manufacturing down.

follow the price reduction from PS3's launch and you will understand: the price reduction over the yrs is the only bad point you've made nobi. the price reductions came inpart by a need to sale consoles, not because Sony needed to so that point holds no weight. we don't have a pattern for Sony to go by.

PS3 was making under $10 profit at $299 price in Q1(Jan-Mar2010) last year,it was mentioned by CFO of SONY.after that they had RSX size reduction.alot of PS3 have been manufactured since then so parts becoming common hence cheaper.the recent die reduction in new PS3 which took it from 3.2kg to 2.6kg: so we're looking at $20 to $50 a console? do you think Sony is willing to take a lose on PS3 now? next yr looks to be the best time and Sony would likely break even with a price drop to $199 next yr. so 2014 still looks to be the yr for a $149 pricedrop and a PS4 launch, or a pricedrop to $199 2012 then one to $149 in 2013 for either a PS4 launch in 2014 or 2013.

and we still have 1 year before september 2011: i know you mean 2012 or do you mean 1 month? whts so special about 2012 if your talking about 2012. if you do mean 2011 september, i know we have alot of goodies to look forward to which should help sale the PS3. are you tiking the pricedrop will come in september?

plus the fact that FFXIII toke a huge dump on it's own game world, so much so that i don't want to relive that same world again.

yeah size wise but PS3 will shrink inside and eventually outside too

SLIM is just redesigning the outside exterior plastic case
