I believe since I joined I have had two temporary bans and like four warnings. All for supposedly trolling. However I refuted each ban and I still don't think I should have been banned. I'm a pessimist and sometimes talk fairly negative, often I get in trouble in the Sony and Nintendo boards when I say something negative or contriversal.

Which is sort of funny because I'm a huge Nintendo fan. Yet I have been warned for trolling on both boards. I also think its sort of weird that when ever I say something negative about Sony on the Sony board I'm called a troll and recieve warnings or bans. I think its stupid that I can't share my opinion without a ban warning.

Now admittadly the last time I got a ban I went alittle far. I was sort of offensive. However Its not like people don't write way worse things and not get banned. I said something about Sony being a crappy game company or something in that sort. About how they aren't in the industry for games etc..etc... I went alittle far, but I have seen far worse things said on the Nintendo board, Also I have seen far more hatefull attacks on Christian's in the Off topic board.

So far I think all my bans have been hypocritical or bias. So much worse behavior goes on unpunished. Now if I trolled all the time going from board to board starting flame wars and insulting people then I would agree I should get temporary or even perma banned. But when I slip up maybe once every two or three months I should not get a ban.

I am not a troll, I simply speak my opinions, I don't try to purposely offend people, sometimes I offend someone but honestly that isn't my intent. I think their should be far more warnings and a user shouldn't get banned for one slip up unless it can be proven they intended to insult and start something.

Example look in the threads in off topic, when me or other Christian's post against Gay marriage or abortion or the lack of scientific evidence supporting Evolution. The kind of crap that is said about us, those users don't get banned. Or the crap said about Nintendo often also goes unbanned.

But all in all despite disagreing with my bans and thinking its alittle biased. I do think VGChartz does a great job for the most part. I also know that senior members have recieved bans before as well. So oh well.

Section 8

I've been here for ages so you all know I've got countless stories to tell and dirt to dish on people that have long since abandoned the site (or still lurk).

First ban I ever got was a few weeks after joining. Soriku was really active and people started to complain because you would see him everywhere all the time, but there was nothing in the rules against posting a lot. One of the admin made up a rule on the spot about short length posts (under ten words or so) being considered spamming, and anyone who didn't meet the word count was eligible for an instant one day ban. It was supposed to be a trap for Soriku but he never fell for it. I and several other users got banned for it though. Said rule got dropped about 2 weeks after which makes it even sillier. This was back in 2007 and the current ban history doesn't go back that far.

I got another ban after that in a thread about best FPS game. I said something like "Goldeneye, bitches!" and got banned for that.

Worst ban I ever got was during the GTA4 frenzy, back when the fanboy wars were at their peak. There was a really stupid notion that "GTA4 will kill the Wii," something that didn't make sense then and makes even less sense now. Since claiming that you wanted the Wii to get destroyed would get you banned, people clung on to GTA4 as their holy grail and used it as a shield. This resulted in ridiculous and stupid hype and there was a big GTA4 IGN Review thread where I called the review out as bullshit (this is the "oscar worthy one"). People actually got angry at me and defended the review, which is hilarious in hindsight because it's the review everyone ridicules during the GTA4 backlash.

ssj12 tried to get witty with me and misused the word epiphany, the exchange is easily seen here. I got perma banned because of that thread. The ban got dropped into a 1 month ban, with the official explanation being that the permaban was a "glitch," but even 1 month was extreme. All of my complaints got blocked by ssj12 and he told me that the ban was because of "ioi's wishes." When the ban was over, I PMed several mods asking them why I was banned (there was no ban reason listed), a got a lot of different responses ("vulgar language," "escalating bans") but none of them could agree and did say that the ban was extreme. But I already knew it was because ssj12 was butthurt over what I said. That was the first time I really noted the disarray in the mod team ranks, that they weren't keeping track of who was banned and for what reasons, and that a mod could so willfully abuse his power and never face the consequences. I seriously considered leaving the site at that point.

Its been couple years since then but Section 8 started as a secret forum place within vgchartz that even the mods were unaware of

A few users found out there is a gap in the forum count between 7 and 9.

No forum was there.  So the threads posted there werent seen by anyone except for those who knew already how to get there.  We called it section 8

Eventually it was leaked and ioi got rid of the ability to post in this rogue forum.   Angry that our play place was taken away we created a new section 8 on a seperate website.   We then built our own little sub community of people we thought worthy of joining.  I was recently allowed to become a contributor for VGC back when they really first tried to start writing original articles.  This ability also allowed me to view VGC mod forums.   Which I would leak info to the new section 8.   I also along with other openly bashed certain aspects of vgc.    We also would hi-jack vgc threads which were planned on section 8 among top members.   Some members on section 8 thought it would be a good idea to put section 8 logos in their tags.  Someone also betrayed us giving info to the VGC mods and ioi about what we were doing.  So with us being outed ioi wanted our secret forum shut down or we would all be banned.

Although that one about them trying to trap Soriku was pretty cool as well up above!
