NINTENDO is slashing the price of its 3D console by a third - after claims it makes gamers feel dizzy and sick.

The Japanese giant yesterday finally admitted the high-profile launch of the glasses-free console was below expectations.

The cut will see the price of the handset fall from as much as £219 to around £130 from August 12. Anyone who has paid full whack since March will be offered 20 games as a sweetener.

The staggering move came as Nintendo warned that its profits this year would be the weakest for almost three decades.

Video games bible MCV said the price of the Nintendo 3DS could even fall to £99.99 by Christmas. MCV expert Ben Parfitt said: "We all thought the 3DS would be popular. Which, as of yet, it hasn't really achieved."

Nintendo said the price cut would "create momentum" and "accelerate market penetration". But analysts in Japan were stunned by the decision.

Nintendo separately reported its first ever quarterly loss - of £296million - and cut sales forecasts for the Wii by a million units. Yasuo Sakuma at BAYVIEW ASSET MANAGEMENT said: "It's not normal that you cut the price on a device within half a year. It was a big surprise to us."

In March, Nintendo claimed the 3DS launch would smash sales records set by the Wii.

But The Sun revealed a number of gamers quickly complained the 3D screen left them with headaches. Telly and radio presenter Jonathan Ross - a Nintendo champion - admitted that he got headaches after playing the console for a long time.

But others said the cutting-edge screen had IMPROVED their vision. Industry execs last night said the biggest problem was the games launched for the console simply weren't good enough.

One exec told Sun City: "The 3DS just never really got going."

Rival Japanese giants SONY and PANASONIC both stuck to profit forecasts yesterday. But Sony slashed sales targets for LCD TVs by five million to 22 million.

Yeah... they did it! they are suggesting that the recent price cut may be connected to the nauseating effect of its 3D display...... >_>

They could of been high or drunk.

Anyone who's breaking the law is obvious a criminal.

Games. Games are the primary reason it has sold so little. They needed a game to prove why 3D was a great enhancement to the gameplay... otherwise they should have not included it in the first place.

Without Wii Sports, Wii would have failed.

I'm sure you get less of a headache when you pay less for it. Makes perfect sense.

Well, it's a UK newspaper. The UK isn't exactly the brightest spot in Europe nowadays.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

They will have found this out by hacking into 3DS owners mobile phones.

No, no. They lowered the price so they could subject more people to headaches and dizziness, or something.
