You realize that most people who are interested in those games already have a PS3.

Naw, there are still millions of gamers (specificall 360-only) that have yet to get a PS3.

Once AGENT releases, I expect it to be bigger than GTA. Be ready for it to sell 10 - 25million. You heard it here first. The gap in America will shrink down to nothing within two months of release. N.O.W_B.E.L.I.E.V.E

Dude what are you talking about?......talk about being in a dream world! You suspect AGENT will be bigger than GTA?? Based on what?.....oh it must be based on the influx of information we have about the game right? Because we know nothing about it.

Or are you thinking that just because it is PS3 exclusive?...which by the way, might not be the case anymore. Now believe that

Another non-believer. Just wait... you'll all see!

DFC says PS3 will pass 360 next year

In its May games industry report, DFC Intelligence has predicted that PS3 will overtake Xbox 360 in terms of installed base next year.

“The Xbox 360 was unable to take advantage of Sony’s struggles to build the type of large lead needed to maintain a long-term advantage,” said the firm.

The reports reckon Wii will have the highest sales of this generation, which will surpass console sales in the previous cycle by 2011.

PS3 Picked to Pass 360 in 2011

It may be Kinect over Move for the holidays but analyst group DFC Intelligence nonetheless predicts that 2011 will be the year that the PlayStation 3 overtakes the Xbox 360 in worldwide sales.

Things are looking rosy for Kinect, the motion control device for the Xbox 360 that came out earlier this month. A million of the things sold in just ten days, holiday sales are projected to hit five million units and GameStop has already called it the winner of the winter. But the holiday season is just one battle in the ceaseless meat grinder nightmare of the Console Wars and DFC Intelligence says it won't be enough to hold back the surging onslaught of the Big Sony Machine.

I'm not really here!

So Sony released major exclusives like Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, and Infamous 2 and only manage to outsell the 360 by 10% when it hasn't even released a minor exclusive for the year? What're they going to do when the big guns like Gears of War 3, Halo: Anniversary, Forza Motorsport 4, Kinect Star Wars (anyone that thinks it won't be a major seller is kidding themselves), Dance Central 2, Disneyland Adventures (it'll bring in a whole new audience), Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster (ditto), Kinect Sports: Season 2, and about a half dozen other new IP that will attract lots of gamer?

I predicted before Kinect released that after it came out the 360 would rise to the top in North America and never look back and I'm predicting now that the increase in 360 sales starting in mid-September will be at a rate where the PS3 will be unable to keep up.

A gamer stands outside a store looking at the promotions through the window...

"Wow, I was unsure about purchasing a 360 when it was just Halo/Gears/Mass Effect/Call of Duty/etc/etc, but now that Sesame Street Kinect is out I'm definitely jumping in!!!"

Repeat tens of thousands of times.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

@legend11

That's not the point. When you're looking at sales, it doesn't matter what customer the games are catering to. What matters is, will the target audience generate sales.

Even if you think Sesame Street is funny, lots of kids or parents will be interested in it as Christmas gifts.

Plus, he mentioned many others that are not for children too. Were you laughing at those also?

Shitstorm incoming.

If MS release the next Xbox in 2013 I also think it is possible that PS3 will go ahead. But it could go either way, depending on MS and Sony's movements.

i dont see why.

if you read all of the analysis shown and not just the headline (which is a very curious one... "contender"?  that analysist is an idiot and needs English lessons) its all very balanced and actually debunks the replacement 360's bollocks we always hear particularly in these forums.

"Contender to take second place" as in "when everything is said and done" as in "the race is not over yet"

But you seem upset

once more... Im not arguing with that that!  I am just saying his use of words is silly.

He should just have said, the PS3 could take second place, which i agree with..

The use of the word contender is wrong.    ONLY the PS3 can "TAKE" second place.

Perhaps its just some american messing up the English language again?  I dunno...

Yep, if you were right, a possibly more appropriate word could be "challenger". But you're wrong! Or better, you just failed to get it, there isn't just one challenger, but two contenders, actually. In fact, recently, Wii too started trying to take second place from XB360.

Wait a second................so if Vgchartz has it at 18% where are they getting a 10% difference in this article? Is Vgchartz overtracking PS3 then?

And anyways 360 is going to win during the holidays this year I'm sure of it so what really matters in terms of winning this year is whether the amount that Sony outselld MS during the rest of the year is more than 360 sells from end of September - December.

Either VGC is overtracking PS3, or this doesn't count countries outside of NA, Europe and Japan.

I guess we will see when Sony release the numbers.

Alot of people keep saying 360 will beat out PS3 this holiday either ww or in the US cause there looking at last holidays success with Kinect.
Now i am not saying PS3 will outsell 360 in the US this holiday but they might make a run at it. The year before Kinect, PS3 got a price drop and outsold 360 in the US in the biggest month of the year. If another price drop happens, it could get interesting.

@ Blood_Tears

I think 360 has the holidays on lock down. The people who go out and spend during holidays are casual consumers. Kinect is going to get a massive holiday push and games like Kinect Sports 2, Dance Central 2, and the rest of the Kinect lineup are going to push more hardware then stuff like Resistance 3, Twisted Metal, etc. Not to mention you've got Gears which though is a Core game is so big that its gonna push some hardware and historically 360 benefits more than PS3 does from multi-plats so MW3 and Battlefield 3 are only going to push 360 hardware higher.

When all is said and don't I'm not sure who will sell more for the overall year but I'm pretty sure 360 wins the holidays.

MS had all that last year and Sony had alot less then they do this year, and they tied in shipment slaes holiday last year so what makes you think MS can win this year?
