As a ps3 only console holder, I have only ever been able to collect trophies from my games. It got me wondering which of the two - ps3 trophies or xbox achievements is better. Achievements came out earlier and have a points system (to 1000/game, i think?)  whereas trophies come in gold, silver, bronze and the rare platinum. Just curious as to which of the two systems the gamers here prefer, and WHY?

Achievements (Yes i also own a PS3)

I suppose it's the originality factor, the fact i already had 1000's of gamerscore by the time trophy's came out,
and well i just prefer achievements really.

Trophies are better because Sony knows that not everyone likes achievements, so they waited a long time to implement them and didn't patch them into many of the older games so that these people would have enough stuff to play while still avoiding trophies. It's also great how long it takes to sync them, because you can go wash the dishes or take a nap or raise your children and send them off to college in the mean time. I really appreciate how Sony used this opportunity to remind people that there is more to life than video gaming.

Voted trophies simply for the fact they have a platinum. To me the idea of the platinum trophey just means more then the idea of getting 1000 gamerpoints.. as like... whats the difference between 990 and 1000 really? It puts less 'emphasis' on doing that one really really hard task.

Some downloadable games get full trophey lists too, which rocks :D.

But i own only a PS3, and am a trophey whore to the max (23 platinums now i think 0_o) so I guess I would say that :D.

While my exp. is almost exclusively of the trophy kind, I assume that achievements are just as useless and time-wastery.

i prefer trophies, because it's a more sleek system, and i'd rather be gaining a higher level than having just a number next to my name

Achievements because it's original and trophy's are just the remastered version of it

I swear this website is running out of things to talk about, so much so that it seems to be going in cycles or inventing friction where there really needn't be (yes I am referring to the vs thread), we've had the why do sony fans hate the 360 thread, I guess it was a matter of time we brought back Trophies vs Achievements...
