OT: IMO all consoles have their trolls. Plenty of them. On VGC, Sony fans seem to be the majority, tough god help them on Gamespot...

Maybe it's because they follow Sony's PR model like how they were arrogant earlier this generation. Sony kept talking about potential and how the PS3 would dominate no matter the price but it never happened. There is also the Kevin Butler's advertizing, always making fun of the competition (pew pew pew). Imo it's their PR model that drives that... not to say they don't get trash talked by Xbox and Nintendo fanboys but I agree most sites are really filled with Xbox haters and most of them are Sony fanboys...

The 360 is the PS3's most direct competition. I think I saw somewhere that Microsoft made the Xbox solely to compete with the PS3. As a result, the PS3 wasn't nearly as successful as it could have been. The 360 kept offering pretty much the same games that the PS3 (including franchises that were previously Playstation only) was offering and undercutting the PS3's price. And don't think that 360 fans didn't throw it in PS3 fans faces at every opportunity. I guess it's frustrating.

Sony fans hate the Xbox 360 cause it's the rival to the PS3.

Uhm...not to poop on your party, but afaik there was exactly _one_ K.Butler spot that had any relation to the competition, which was the "pew pew pew" one you quoted.
There are like 20 others which don't do that at all.. in other words, I think your theory isn't exactly waterproof.

Your generalising and you seem to start threads just so you can ignite these kinds of reactions. PS3 fans are as bad as Nintendo fans and Microsoft fans, it's just easy to pick and choose who you want to be the worse when you have your preferences. Sites like Giant Bomb, Joystiq, Youtube and various other forums have a strong 360 bias, if I was a user of only those sites then I'd probably come to the same conclusion as you, but I don't stick to the same three sites and I've dipped my toes into a larger variation of online gaming communities.

People also forget that negative press deserves negative reactions, if Microsoft come out and say that Gunstringer is now a full retail game, that Live is going to become even more expensive, that all their core fans are Metallica shirt wearing nerds, then they deserve to see a negative reaction by people on forums. In comparison, Sony just have a lot more positive things to say and so they receive  more positive reactions, but as soon as Tretton calls Nintendo fans children then they are deservedly criticised.

Every fan base has their crazy moments, like how Microsoft fans were reacting to last years E3 or like how Sony fans are actually making out that the Move is fun or like how Nintendo fans act like Nintendo is the greatest, but one of them isn't worse than the others.

You might as well ask why humans go to war.
Rivalry, competition, Envy... There are many reasons, but all of them are stupid. You should just enjoy the games your console of choice gets and either not care the about the other games or just get the another console, too.
