Forums - Sony Discussion - Demons Souls help

After hearing enough from SONY fans about Demons Souls on this site i since i am on a biltz in buying games this year and experimenting away from FPS and SandBox titles into other genres like rpg i decided that i need a challegening game and demons souls was different and dark souls looks pretty good so i gave it a go.

After a day playing: Nope, everyone is correct this game is painfully hard.

Let me describe my current experience playing so you can give me some help to get me started because the last sword style game i played was fable 2 , and we know how that game is holding your hand.

I started off as a knight because the armor looked awesome and did well and got though the tutorial, it took a while to stop pressing the square button for attacks and using up all my health items, and got though the castle and defeated the first demon. So i was doing pretty well for my self but then i proceeded forward and got killed by a dragon. Losing the 1000s of soul points, after dieing a few times i went back to the nexus were i was told that using the soul points to upgrade. Well stupid me for dieing i should of rushed back. After trying another archstone level and dieing several times to the starting enemies i decided i would go back to the first place and collect souls to upgrade. After Dieing after getting 1000s of souls points i decided to screw this and start again as a hunter character only to die half way though the first castle and not reach the first demon.

So thats my experience with demons souls. I believe i should continue on with my knight but i am going to struggle i guess so i dont know what to do? Any tips.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

farm souls from the red eyed knight using the thiefs ring, you will get alot of souls that way and makes the overall first playthough of the game easier

First off, you picked a hard beginner class. Royal is the best because some of the magic spells (with a few magic damage level ups) are absurdly overpowered and make the game much (arguably cheap) easier.

If you're having a tough time and can't move forward in the game, I suggest switching over via a new game.

BTW, are you using the cling ring? You better. (look it up on DS wiki)

As for the dragon part, just use timing and make sure you're not over encumbered. You'll eventually get the hang of it. For me, that was really my only 'OMG I CAN NEVER BEAT THIS GAME!!!' part (aside from flamelurker... (shivers)). Things should just click after 1-2.

After mastering 1-2 beat 2-1 and then start exploring the tower of lateria. That was my progression and it worked out quite well.

P.S. 1000 ds is nothing. Don't feel like you lost anything

Want to learn how to beat it in 1 hour? Here you go. enjoy! Spoilers ahead!

Part 1/4

Part 2/4

Part 3/4

Part 4/4

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

Don't watch the walkthroughs and I don't think you need to change your class, just go knight again and beat the first boss, go to the nexus and upgrade then go to a different world, 2-1 is easier then 1-2 and 4-1 is doable and will get you alot of souls, one thing to remember is always have healing items and remember to keep your shield up

I think the game is not hard, but challenging. The game has a steep learning curve, once you know where all the enimies are and learn from your mistakes the game will be a easier. I recommend starting as a Royal class, you get a MP regen ring and a laser beam magic spell that I can't remember (I haven't touch the game in a year...), you can take down the enemies so fast and easy. Theirs a lot of places in the game that your not suppose to go untill you're at a higher level, IF you get one-shotted KO/Killed, that's a sign to come back when your at a higher level.

Knight? Hard beginner? ROTFLOL. I started as a Soldier, and even that was a piece of cake.

Farm the red eye knight, and after that, farm 4-2. Everything becomes so much simpler after you do... and get yourself a bow, too. It helps killing the first 4-2 reaper for major ease and major souls.

That game is not in the least bit hard. The gamers of today don't know what hard is.

If you spend hours grinding to get to a high level before doing anything else in an rpg of couse it won't be hard... just saying

Thing is, it was never hard. Levels or no levels. Don't rush everyhting like an idiot, and you'll be fine. That game is ALL PATTERNS.

I didn't get to 4-2 in a very long while, and red eye knight grinding becomes very ineffective very fast.

Dude by the time red knight grinding becomes ineffective you should have more then enough to beat the game without anymore grinding... and you probably died several times on the red knight before you got his patterns down and probably a few times after that
