Jade Empire sold, citing this website, around 220,000 copies in the US. However, I tend to think that's a bit low. If I remember right, when VGC was using monthly data only, the number(s) were around 150,000 first month (May 05, if I remember right).
I know it didn't sell 1m+........Alot of owners, I think, got burned on KOTOR 2 and were reluctant to buy JE - despite it's great reviews.

Jade Empire 2 was rumored to have started production around the same time as Mass Effect. The main difference being it would not be using Unreal Engine 3.

That's assinine if true, because the KOTOR and JE developers had little if anything to do with KOTOR2.
