Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bondi cut LA Noire desks to fit Blu-ray

Each xbox disc holds atmost 6.9gb due to xbox related security on the disc. So we have 21gb plus reused info across each disc? But the Blu-ray limit was holding them back even though the PS3 got extra features from my understanding?

Doesn't the 4disc if using the 360 cost more aswell, not just disc cost but more money to Microsoft. I seem to recall in another thread somebody mentioned it, this is why only 2 games have used it when many others should have.

Microsoft charges developers more to publish games on multiple discs for their system. Carmack mentioned it when talking about the X360 version of Rage.

I'm guessing Sony might not allow multiple Blu-Ray discs games but there have been dual layer BD PS3 games since MGS4.

Lol, is this guy nuts? The capacity for a single-layer Blu-ray disc was increased to ~33 GB in 2010. 3 dual-layer DVDs hold ~26 GB. That's not even taking into consideration that MS reserves ~ 1 GB per disc for security purposes, so its more like ~23 GB. So yea, I guess according to this guy 23 GB is WAY more than 33 GB. Shh, don't mention the 66 GB dual-layer Blu-ray.

Just another way to promote digital distribution.

Because people have the download speed, and no limit restrictions and time to download a 30+gb game?

Buddy, I am against DD.  When devs say stuff like this it means that they want you to start downloading their games and stop buying physical so you cant sell them anymore.

Forget about selling them, you won't even be able to play them anymore if the company/website goes out of business and/or decides not to carry that game anymore, then your system crashes.  And people want to bitch about DRM now?  Just wait til you can only download the game to one system/computer and you can't make back ups of those games in case my previous scenerio happens.

Simple answer: He had a choice of using a dual layer blu-ray disc or 2 blu-ray discs (which is rather idiotic if you have dual layer) . He did neither because it would cut into profits.

hmm...that was a weird statement from him...

After trying to pass off such a lame, bullshitty and blatantly mendacious excuse, PS3 fans will deservedly crucify him!!!

I'm so sick of Blu-ray holding back games. It would be great to see what Team Bondi could do if their next game were 360 exclusive and filled up 20 DVD-9s.

lol... blu-ray is so 2006

im consufed by his statement.

a single layer blu-ray holds more space than 3 dual-layer DVD's.

this whole thing was discussed in another thread, like a month or so ago.

but know my sig quote has a new meaning

Its not a great story to be honest...

I think the point he is trying to make is that increasing the from 3 to 4 or even 5 DVD's would hardly make people bat an eye lid.

But going to 2 Blu Ray disks would cause a media meltdown on forums.
