Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3: 'Still a Pain in the Ass' for Developers

First parties have a luxury that third parties don't. They only work with one console. People don't seem to understand after four years that developing a multiplatform is a completely different thing than optimizing for the strengths of one console.

Its amazing how most developers have no problems with the PS3, infact many games look or perform better on the PS3.  One would assume this would be the developers lack of skill and not the fault of the system.

More look and perform better on the 360

glad to see Nsanity still spend his days after these articles to show his love to sony

lol thats what he does best.

OP: I think honestly if your dev team hasnt gotten a hold of the PS3 yet then the team's not doing a good enough job.  Understandable if its new but its been years,  and worst of all, other developers are really good at it.  If nobody can do it then hell i agree it'd be a pain in the ass, but seriously, those developers just look bad.

No wonder they showcase games like Call of Duty on the 360 first. Because it's easier to make games on the 360 than the PS3. Huh, my cousin wasn't lying.

Exactly my point, the industry is filled with studies that are below average and this proves that.  If the 360 was truly better then the exclusive games by first parties would be better looking on the 360.  But its the exact opposite,  proving my point that its the developers lack of skill and not the system.

Lets look at CoD,  CoD4, pretty close across both systems with each doing certain things better.  MW2 vastly better looking then CoD4 but it looks great on both systems with little difference.  Now lets look at Black ops, better looking and at a much higher resolution on the 360, but the game looks much worse then MW2.   Just proving the point that devopers with poor skill can't make games.  IW much more talented then Treyarch.

I'm getting really good at predicting authors based on thread titles!

Anyways thanks for finally reporting some PS3 news. I was beginning to think you were solely 360, but with this, I see you spread all news.

Thanks.

The irony here is that the first Darksiders ran better on the PS3 than the Xbox 360. And the 3rd party support keeps rolling in with exclusive features. Go figure.

What a nubbin

Not to sound like a troll or anything but, isn't darksiders a crappy game anyway?

"I don't know what this Yamcha is, but it sounds just like Raditz."

Sony has done that and that is good for devs because they will always still support them. If Nintendo had done that with a console it will be a never ending story and nobody will make any game for the system. Although it's not like they are doing great now.
