All those games surpassed the 1M units mark. I reckon that some huge numbers in the HD console games cannot be compared to these ones but it's safe to say that this gen Nintendo has improved 3rd party harcore software in its platforms.

Uh, this will end bad...*activate shield*
It will be interesting to see the number of comments before the tired "casual" involved one.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Those numbers are good, but yea the usual's might come in and you know what lol.

You can make an equally long list with third party "hardcore" games that sold less than a million. Fact remains there are hardly any 3rd party blockbuster-type games on the Wii. Most of those games are extremely low-budget.

The fact is that it's difficult to define an "hardcore" thing, this gen the term has been used to define, in a superior way, what was not a collection of mini-games or such. CoD or Halo are casual games since they appeal to people who litterally know nothing of videogames...seriously, how could someone be defined hardcore if he doesn't even know the number of this gen?
I'm saying this because many of the games in the OP could be defined casual...anyway these are not bad numbers at all, it's just the fact that Nintendo always have and always will sell better than its third parties supporters, the loyal fanbase buys a Nintendo console firstly for Nintendo games, this is a great advantage since they'll always count on 20-30m loyal buyers, while the other software houses won't. With a bit of effert and a good marketing games like MH3 or DQ IX (typical japanese games) were able to sell well even in the west.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Not too sure how accurate this is (and I can't be arsed to check lol) but I remember reading on another forum somewhere that there are more Wii third party million sellers than first and third party million sellers combined for the PS3.

Third parties have done better on the Wii than any other platform this gen. Cheaper development and publishing costs mean that a publisher needs to shift considerably less units to garner a profit. Including shovelware it's not beyond the realms of possibility that more than 50% of Wii titles have been profitable.

We'll see a drop in that percentage next gen with the U though because development and publishing costs will rise and you may see a great deal of publishers cocking up and feeling that they don't need to market their games properly to sell them.

Define hardcore first.

At least half of those games I wouldn't consider "hardcore" :S

Actually at the moment they appear to be equal for third party million sellers, but not Wii beating them both combined like you said.

There are 103 million sellers on the PS3 with Sony taking up 23 leaving 80 third party sellersand 117 on the Wii with Nintendo taking up 37 so you got 80 third party
