Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who here would pay $70+ for 3-5 hours of game play?

And you have this article here:

http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/87192/five-good-and-bad-things-to-look-forward-to-next-generation

In it was spoken of development costs going up, so that means that games would end up costing $70 or more.  Then, also was predicted single player experience running 3-5 hours.  If this comes to pass, how many people here would end up still buying video games like you used to?  Would you readjust, move on, or just roll with it?

I would do what I do now wait until the game drops in price before buying it. Hate short games that's why I prefer RPG's over other genres.

Anyone who's breaking the law is obvious a criminal.

Hard to say, I probably would rent even more. I like playing new stuff and always get bored with a game before I would even think of platinuming it so I would never buy much.

Although I already don't pay more than 30$ for a game, I would probably end up moving on.

I used to play hours on end from nes till gc gens. This gen, my interest has waned a bit and i have very little time anymore. I play mostly for the single player experience and 3 hrs borders on a movie length which would be pathetic for a game. I play games like how I read books.

Anyway as for the article, they're things that can all happen, but not all concurrently.

vgchartz is so behind i said this a yr ago, but just because it sounds logical doesn't mean it will happen.

Not me. I have sc2 to play =D

It appears you have not noticed yet that more than half of the topics are recycled. Now that Nikkom thread is original right now, but almost all the rest are same old same old.

This is one of the biggest reasons the Wii is great, we are coming to the point where these awesome graphics are going to come at the cost of every other aspect of a game including variety and cost and quite likely lead to another crash in the market.

Hell its already happening, Factor 5 went out of business after Lair, along with several other developers. Furthermore look at the game selection on those platforms, its terrible, sequels, and new IPs that are guaranteed for success like Uncharted or GTA. Was it any surprise at all that those games did well...

On the Wii, those same slam dunk games don't do very well and only innovative games do well. Its a dream platform.

Should this even be a question. I mean if a good multiplayer is added then it depends. I dont see 3-5 hour games with no other gameplay features for 70 bucks in the future.

This is the main reason that Sony and Microsoft shouldn't go crazy with graphics next gen, development costs. I would not pay $70+ for one game, but unfortunately, we all will in the future. I just don't see that much value in one game.
