2. onlyg reason halo sells at all is because MS markets with a massive budget, if the game does't clear 3 mil it probably wouldn't make a profit because of all the marketing 

I'm still waiting for a PS3 blockbuster really. GT5 was the last hope and it bombed and didn't score too well. It's all about killer apps, not filler apps. Sony really dropped the ball this gen on making blockbusters.

lol, Sony puts out 8+ great exclusives a year,  the reason they don't reach numbers as high as gears and halo is because there's more of them and Sony can't afford to advertise them as much, halo and gears have no compeition exclusive wise and are advertised 20 times as much as any ps3 exclusive your defintion of blockbuster has to do with advertising more then the actual game, and why the hell do you care about sales more then quality of the game halo has been meh and gears 2 was just good, ps3 has alot better and alot more exclusives

Regardless MS and Ninty are close in that while Ninty sells more units MS has a more varied focus. Thats what I mean by all 3 are close in that they are all offerind differrent things that simply can't be overlooked. Nintendo has its VERY strong franchises that generate huge sales, but lack really any new IP to speak of. Sony has a huge amount of exclusive franchises but they pretty much only cater to core audiences and their franchises for the most part don't do gangbuster numbers in sales. MS has their foot a little bit in everything from Hardcore ( Halo, Fable, Forza ) to very casual (Kinect) and see some huge hits with a few franchises but not most and generally are lacking in developing strong new core IP currently.

Basically to generalize they are all close because they are all strong in some ways and weak in others. That's my point. People like to overexagerate on the internet and say things like "Sony pwns MS cause MS is going after TEH BABYZ CAZULZ." Or "MS and Sony PWNZ NINTY CUZ THEY HAZ NO GAMEZ!!!" or "MS PWNS SONY CUZ Haloz ANDZ KINECTZ SELLZ SUPER WTFBBQ NUMBERZ!!!!" When in acutallity none of the above are true. None of the 1st party's pwn each other this gen as has been proven time and time again. Actually all 3 are very strong.

There hasn't been a non kinect retail 360 exclusive released this year, so no 360s exclusives are not strong

I generally don't waste my time replying to posters who go around and post things like you do but I'll do this once.

MS's 1st pary games will quite easily destroy Sony's 1st party this year in terms of sales. Kinect Sports 2, Dance Central 2, Halo CEA, Gears of War 3, and Forza 4 is a MUCH stronger financial lineup than Infamous 2, Killzone 3, Uncharted 3, Twisted Metal, and Resistance 3.

So yes they are quite strong. And while I'm aware DC2 and Gears 3 aren't totally 1st party they are published by MS as well as co developed with MS's 1st party.

Thats funny because I do believe the whole GT Franchise sold more than the whole Halo franchise seeing as GT goes all the way back to the PSX era.

But if you're just talking about how popular the franchise is and not sales then yes Halo is the bigger franchise.........in america.

I think he was talking sales figures, i could be wrong. BUt on sales MS is ahead of Sony and no where near the Wii. Wii>360>PS3, this really cant be disputed, quality is a whole other subject
