Forums - Gaming Discussion - Naughty Dog : Ps3 and Vita Can Do Everything Wii U Can Do

Naughty Dog game director Justin Richmond has claimed that, as interesting as Wii U looks, it doesn't do anything that cannot be handled by the PlayStation 3 and its upcoming handheld counterpart, thePlayStation Vita

"To be honest with you, the idea of it is very, very cool. But there's nothing that the Wii U has that the Vita and PS3 doesn't," Richmond told NowGamer. "You know, it's an interesting piece of technology, and I'm interested to see how people use it.

"I'm not completely sold yet. That the screen isn't multi-touch, that's a little weird. It seems there are some very strange holes in it, but to be fair, last time I was sceptical of the original Wii, and look at how that did. I'm sure that the games they make for Wii U will be amazing."

Well, PS3 and Vita can't do Mario, so that's one thing Wii U has. Funnily enough, I didn't know multi-touch wasn't being offered on that Wii U screen ... I wonder if Nintendo deliberately makes half-efforts with its hardware, just to be a dick.

Well its true that the vita shares a lot of the features of the wii u controller like accelerometer, touchscreen, camera, mic etc but its also true that unlike the wii u which will definitely come with the controller all ps3 users will not have vitas and therefore it ( the connection between them if one is made ) will obviously have less support from a development standpoint

Naughty Dog tells the Truth. :)

So he doens't trust in what he thinks?

While he may be techically correct, the PS Vita and PS3/PS4 will not be used like the Wii U on a wide scale because no developer can count on a PS3/PS4 owner having a PS Vita and vice versa. On top of that, the Wii U will probably be in a price range where the unit as a whole is close to half the price of the PS Vita and PS3/PS4 combined.

I was just about to say that ^^

Yea this. Also we just dont know everything about the wiiu yet.

No ND.

PSV cannot stream content from PS3/4 at the level Wii U can, nor can it do motion tracking like Wii U's pad can.

And of course there's the price of entry for PSV and PS3/4.

The again, this is what you would expect them to say about the competition.

i am actually surprised that it did not have multi touch but Reggi did say that they do not want to make a tablet like controller...

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

while i agree with this "And of course there's the price of entry for PSV and PS3/4."

"PSV cannot stream content from PS3/4 at the level Wii U can" im cuirious as to why you say this since the psp was already capable of this :

"nor can it do motion tracking like Wii U's pad can" i'd also like to know how you know that who says the motion sensing on vita isn't better?

vita = $250, ps3 = $300 vita + ps3 = $550 / 2 = $225

i highly doubt the wii u will be this cheap i'd say probably  $350 - $400

then if we factor in price drops of $50 - $100 off the ps3 before the wii u launches vita + ps3 = $450 - $500 ( which is much closer than your estimate )
