Don't we have a list of new ip's this gen somewhere so people can stop moving the goal post a bit?

I posted the boxarts so everyone will take notice. All of these, plus several games I intentionally left out are new IPs.

(for anyone who does't know, The Rolling Western is a 3DS downloadable.)

Aye new franchises yes but how many are first party?? Take all the new franchise this gen that are third party titles only on the PS3 and Xbox and not to mention how many wii Exclusives have made it out of Japan.

Nintendo has been using the same franchises for years. Sony and Microsoft create new series each generation. Yeah there is 3 uncharted games and 3 resistances but these are series created from scratch this generation. Sony has created over 10 new franchises this generation alone. How many has Nintendo.

*sigh*

Again, here are most new 1st party IPs (published and owned by Nintendo) this gen:

On Wii and WiiWare: Wii Series, Xenoblade, The Last Story, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Pandora's Tower, Zangeki no Reginleiv, FlingSmash, Endless Ocean, Captain Rainbow, And-Kensaku, ThruSpace, Rock N' Roll Climber, You Me and the Cubes, Eco Shooter: Plant 530, Line Attack Heroes, Snowpack Park, AquaSpace, MaBoShi: The Three Shape Arcade.

On DS and DSiWare: Soma Bringer, ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat, Jam with the Band, Another Code/Trace Memory, Nintendogs, Osu ! Tatakae ! Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents, Brain Age, Big Brain Academy, Jet Impulse, Chousoujou Mecha MG, Electroplankton, Meteos, Fossil Fighters, Hotel Dusk, Zekkyo Senshi Sakeburein, Style Savvy/Style Boutique, Metal Torrent, Reflect Missile/Trajectile, A Kappa's Trail.

And there's also Steel Diver on 3DS.

Also, as I mentioned before, saying that the games have to be released in all regions, be popular, or not "casual" is clearly moving "goal posts". The games still exist, no matter where they're released, how much they sell or if you care about them or not. And the same applies to Sony/Microsoft ones, of course.

Browsing on different game sights, I notice that a lot of "core gamers" saying that all Nintendo does is make rehashes of the same games and create new ways to play them. Then they would pee in their pants over the next shooter in a series. Games like COD, grand theft auto, or gears of war. Sony is releasing a beta of uncharted Drake. That is 3 in one gen. At that rate there will be more Drake's than Zelda's in three gens. Also, isn't there another Bio Shock coming? Talk about being a hypocrite! These people are haters more than core gamers.

There's a small diffrence - those companies unlike Nintendo also have new IPs.

Don't any of these count as new IPs?

The thing is, Nintendo hasn't given those people ,that simply aren't all that interested in it's icons and the new family gaming/work out line-up, anything to speak of.
Considering Nintendo titles have by far the highest quality on the system, there just isn't any incentive to buy a Wii for these people, which is what they try to communicate (often in a rude/unpleasant , clumsy and imprecise way).

Why are you bringing Wii something showelware and Nintendogs/Brain Age into discussion about core games ?

I see grand total of 5 new Wii ips for gamers on this list.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I'll say it once more. How many Mario games have been made? And when I say Mario games I mean any game on a nintendo platform that features Mario. Many counter argue that there have only been a few MAIN Mario games, but still, if Sony were to make Kratos KART, Kratos party, Kratos 3d, Kratos football, Kratos pinball etc I would be really pissed. Kratos was a playable character in Soul Calibur: Broken destiny and Mortal Kombat. If he's also included in Tekken 7 etc I will not bother getting the game at all.
I absolutely loved Mario 15 years ago and Super Mario Bros 3 is one of my all time favourite games. But I absolutely hate the way they milked the franchise instead of creating new ips.
Now how exactly is this hypocricy?

Yea, but Kratos KART, Kratos party, Kratos 3d, Kratos football, Kratos pinball etc would all be different type of games. Just because Mario is in all these games doesn't mean they are all the same. Mario Kart and Mario Party are very diffent games. I would rather have Mario in a bunch of different games than to have to a ton of shooters that are the same with just different names.

All I'm saying is that you can't call those who are tired of seeing new Mario games again and again hypocrites, because they don't think the same way you do. If COD fans were claiming that they hate how Sony milks Unchated you would have every right to blame them and call them hypocrites, because there are many COD games.

So your comparison is invalid. Btw, I don't like shooters at all, but that doesn't change the facts that they are not hypocrites, as they hate Nintendo not for the main Mario games, but for all the Mario games and the lack of effort to make another great (new) ip like Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc.  Different type of games or not, I would absolutely hate it if Kratos, who is my favourite Sony character, was part of every big Sony release.

This is more moving the goal post. And the comparison is perfectly valid. You are making a big deal that Mario are in all those games even though they are all very different games with very different game play. As opposed to different shooters that are different IP's that play pretty much the same. Which sounds more like rehashes? Gears of War is a shooter. Regardless if it will end with the 360 or not. It still a shooter. Never played uncharted so I can't say. But what the difference in continuing Gears or ending it only to make another shooter IP, which is most likely to happen? It might as well be the same IP.

Well, you're assuming that the people behind said comments (like Nintendo not having new IPs or "rehashing" old ones) are genuinely dissapointed or upset about Nintendo, which I don't believe it's always the case. Personally, I think that most of them are not even aware of what Nintendo offers, much less interested in giving them a chance. They just want to bash Nintendo, either because of pure fanboyism or because of hating what Nintendo represents in their minds. Like I said before, no different than those that claim 360 only has FPS games or Sony only has Gran Turismo and God of War. The more honest people would have no problem in just saying "I don't care about Wii/Nintendo" and leave it at that, instead of trying to push their opinions as facts or making false statements.

By the way, I've seen many people online asking for several 3rd party exclusives on Wii to appear on their platform. More specifically, with Fatal Frame IV, Monster Hunter Tri, Tatsunoko VS Capcom, Samurai Warriors 3 (when it was exclusive), Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Dragon Quest X. Given the fact that Wii is the best selling console this gen and the one with the biggest number of 3rd party exclusives (easily verifiable on Wikipedia, for example), then I don't think it's far-fetched to claim that many people got a Wii for some of these games, whether they have another platform or not. Just because many popular 3rd party games skipped the Wii doesn't mean that no desirable ones were released on the platform.

@Zlejedi

By definition, "shovelware" games are those that have no appeal as they have been developed with little or no care, only released to make a quick buck. These games usually, or perhaps always, have game-breaking bugs or other technical errors. A commonly used example is NinjaBread Man, to name one. None of the games showed by IamAwsome qualify as such, as evidenced by its sales and overall reception.

If you're going to use "shovelware" as a synonym of "game I don't like", the word looses its purpose as anything could be deemed "shovelware" depending on who you ask. And not caring about a game is not a valid reason to argue that it's not for "gamers" (whatever this means...) or that it's irrelevant to anyone other than you.

Is it really that hard to acknowledge the existance of a game you don't care about and respect other people's interests ?

*Some Ninty new IP's*

No. They'll never count that. Even I started to doubt if they know what a new IP means.

Just give up. They never listen. Be happy and go on.
