I totally understand what your saying but for it to come true it would mean the total bastardation of the gaming industry. It would turn into the music business. The bottom line is, it is not just my opinion that the wiis games arent very good and most are of a certain demagraphic i.e. mini games and kids games. If you go to gamesrankings.com and see the average review scores for these games you will see the wii doesnt have many great games. If you listen to podcasts with gaming journalists they will say the same things about the quality and type of games coming out for the wii. The day that non gamers who just want to play brain training, wii sports, mario party and nintendogs out number the real gamers who want to play metal gear, halo and gran turismo that is a sad day. If wii wins then microsoft and sony will have to change the way they make their next consoles and we will see less games like lair, heavenly sword, lost odyssey and mass effect and we will end up seeing more games like wii health, boogie, big brain academy and rayman raving rabbits

Ahhh, the old Kwaad logic. "omg casual games will sell more than classic style games therefore no one will make classic style games any more".

This is seen in the real world all the time, after all, Ferrari have started making SUV's because they sell heaps!

Pop music sells the most, so Rock bands don't exist any more.

The most popular TV shows are reality tv shows, so nothing else will be made any more.

Action films sell more than comedy films, so now there are no more comedies.

Will people get over the "the hardcore games are dying!!" mantra. It's quite simple. If there is a market, something will fill that market. This is capitalism, people! If there is money to be made then someone will make money from it. It doesn't matter if more money can be made elsewhere. The market is there = someone exploiting the market.

So hardcore games will exist so long as there are hardcore gamers who will pay money for them. I don't see hardcore gamers replacing their MGS with Brain Training and Singstar. Which means, the hardcore market isn't going to get any smaller due to this emerging casual market. So what happens? The industry grows to fill up the larger market. The hardcore market has a smaller percentage of a much larger pie, but the slice is still the same damn size.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Around the Network

Hey guys. We've had a great time discussing this thread, but I feel it's time to give up the ghost and move on to other sales topics. Therefore, I am locking the thread. Typically it's a good thing, expecially since we're totally off-topic now discussing non-game game sales.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
