Forums - Gaming Discussion - OnLive Does Everything Wii U Does This Autumn and Console Gaming Under Threat According to OnLive Boss

OnLive will die. A bit early for its time.

Will onlive work at my friend's place?
BTW, he doesn't have internet access at home.
...
No?
Yeah... I thought so...

Ambition doesn't count for much if you havent got the resources to back it up

The issue is, I like to OWN my games, and Nintendo games, in my living room. OnLive won't take off IMO.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

is he crazy or something? how do people say this when games sell as good as they do on consoles as opposed to pc. he says publishers don't like dealing with piracy on consoles but its way easier to pirate on pc. I dont wish onlive bad but i cant see it doing great.

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
As far as i know, ipad and smartphone don't have d-pad, 4 buttons and triggers as 2 analogues... i wonder how they can do with onlive everything wiiU is doing.
Also the problem with onlive is the bandwidth and the powerful servers they will need to update all the time to follow up the increase of technical requirements for the games... Even more if onlive is based on PC version that are not as optimised as consoles one.
But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.
Onlive needs to partner up with hardware manufactures like netflix and hulu have done. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo would also be very smart to hook up with Onlive. A lot has changed in the last six years, and the big three are going to be facing a lot more competition going forward. Not only are things like onlive becoming a viable option, but also the need for specialized hardware is fading. In the near future all Blu-ray players, and potentially TV's will have some kind Onlive like feature, and multimedia devices will be coming from all kinds of new players. It is going to be very easy next gen, for any company with hardware background to put out a multimedia devices in the ballpark of next gen consoles for quite cheap.
I think Sony and Nintendo have the biggest advantage going forward with powerhouse exclusive studios. It should help them keep the Playstation brand, and Nintendo consoles high in market share among the many new options that will pop up. Unless Microsoft can ramp up its in house development I think the Xbox brand may fade away.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
i don't see onlive kicking off:
1: they don't have Nintendo Games
2: requires constant internet connection
3: i like to buy my games and own a physical copy, i don't like renting games.
4: no Nintendo games
