The Wii sits at about 87.5m right now and has sold about 4.5m in the first half of this year. What you are suggesting is that the Wii will sell worse in the second half of this year, despite the holiday season. That's just irrational.


It's way over tracked now by about 600K ( sell through still should be below 87M), needs a downward adjustment and when Q2 reports come in I expect it to be over tracked more if it isn't adjusted down now.   I expect it to sell a tad better in 2nd half of course.

Right, I forgot that the Wii didn't get adjusted down yet. Still, you are being quite pessimistic, but then again Wii sales have continually disappointed.


Still for it to hit 100M quicker it needs to be priced at $99 before Wii U comes.

2010 Total: 18.1m

First 6 months of 2011: 4.5m (66% of 2010)
Est last 6 months of 2011: 8.5m (75% of 2010, assuming price reduction allows Wii to remain a little higher than the first half year's YoY reduction)
2011 Total: 13m

LTD at end of 2011: 96.2m.

Give or take a couple million and there still no chance it will break 100m in 2011.

I'd bet in first 6mos of 2012 it will break 100m.
