On a serious note,  third parties have tried to release games on the wii including indy devs to no avail because of nintendo, including the conduit and De blob creators. Theres a reason why third parties have all but abandonded Nintendo, people just loves to blame the third parties, but don't look to see the way Nintendo just love themselves, and Just Dance. Thats why i think the whole third parties going to support the WIIU is BS. And i don't hate nintendo, but don't fuck with the third parties. I love third parties. They my homies.

deBlob sold very well.  deBlob 2 failed on everything.   The Conduit went up against Call of Duty and got overshadowed by the 10 ton gorilla.  It still made them profits and met their target expectations.

But what third party has ever even come close to mario kart. Third parties that work for nintendo just feel ripped off. Why is it that if they make a game for Nintendo, they just can't fork over some cash and advertise for them. When MS practically Bends over for activision and Sony does the same for EA and tons of other third parties. I guarantee you, that the conduit would have sold better if Nintendo just stepped up, and said "You know what, these guys are taking a risk for us, we gotta have thier back. Lets give them some commercials, and make sure they do well *better than they did*, even in the face of defeat." And don't even get me started on silent hill.

Yeah! Why isn't Nintendo bailing out the devs like the government did with Wall Street? It's not their fault that their games suck or not on par with the first party games.

Yeah! Lets just compare this to an economic crisis! Yeah!

EDIT: oh yeah, and to me, third parties have made better games then Nintendo has ever made. Third parties 4lyfe.

So you didn't read the Ask Iwata part did you?

we are developing several titles in collaboration with these publishers.
Please understand that Nintendo is prepared to invest in order to make this a reality.

Sounds to me like they are about to off load a bunch of cash for co-development, publishing, funding and marketing.

Ill believe it when i see it. Ill especially believe it, when they get some exclusive third party stuff. You think Nintendo will be so fond of the third parties when their next mario kart sells 20 million copies? I don't.

How is that even relevant?   Nintendo realizes the value of having a mix of high quality 1st and 3rd party software.  Each can drive hardware sales and each add to Nintendo's bottom line (3rd parties still pay a license or Nintendo will waive the license as a means to attract 3rd parties).

I still don't understand how you correlate Mario kart selling 20 million units to Nintendo no longer wanting to support 3rd parties on their platform?

why should nintendo have to help all these devlopers? Their businesses and they take risks with their products, you seem mad that nintendo doesnt really need third party's as much as sony or microsoft to make thier console a success. And now that nintendo is willing to put some money behind it, its ill believe it when i see it sigh you seem to have nothing good to say regardless of the nintendo article though.

Mad55, is correct. Your posts do make you sound bitter and angry.

Just shut up and stop bullshitting.

The only 3rd party games I've ever seen advertised for the Wii are ones where Nintendo has stepped in with marketing.  Monster Hunter 3 is a perfect example of this.  Anyway, I don't at all get this 'Nintendo don't do anything for 3rd parties' talk.  IMO Nintendo has done as much for 3rd parties as either Sony or Microsoft, in many respects they have done more.  Here are some examples:

Localising 3rd party games to other markets - Examples include Trauma Centre and Inazuma Eleven for Europe, Prof Layton and Samurai Warriors 3 for the West, Epic Mickey and Goldeneye for Japan, etc

Advertising the hell out of 3rd party games - As I stated earlier, MH3 is a good example.  DQIX is another.

Letting Capcom design the CCPro - Has Sony or Microsoft done something like this?  I don't know

Miyamoto designing a minigame for SW3 - Again has Sony or Microsoft done this?

Bundles with 3rd party games - Sony and MS also do this.  But I still don't see know Nintendo 'rip off' 3rd parties, in particular the ones that work with Nintendo

Actually making games for 3rd parties - Genius Sonority made DQS for Square-Enix, same with Brownie Brown making London Life for Level-5

Letting 3rd parties use Nintendo IPs - Used not as much as last gen, but still frequently.  Pretty much guarentees 3rd parties will make a large profit.  Recent example is Square-Enix with Mario Sports.

Going to 3rd parties to develop games - Pilotwings Resort is a good recent example, so is OoT 3D.  I don't see how letting a 3rd party develop a remake of the highest rated and arguably the best game of all time is 'ripping them off'.

Sending 1st party developers to assisting in the development of 3rd party games - Retro Studies helping with the development of Red Steel 2 is the 1st example that comes to mind.  However, despite your wild claims about the Conduit, I'm pretty sure Nintendo helped with the online of the game, in particular the Wii Speak element.

And IMO most importantly...

Launching a major peripheral with entirely 3rd party games at launch - Wii Motion Plus launch with only 3rd party games (Grande Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods I think), the 1st Nintendo game wasn't launch until a month later.  Sony and MS didn't do this with Move and Kinect respectively, both launched with some 1st party games.  I really don't see how this 'rips off' 3rd parties as you believe.

I'm worried about the Wii U system. I'm glad Nintendo is trying to gain support, but that controller I'm just not sure its going to work. Its so big, I mean when I'm playing a game is it going to start to hurt my hand?

No matter what they do for the few third parties you listed, you can sum up all of the sales and it wouldn't even come close. I can make it a list too, but its stupid. Because you know that third parties don't want to develop for a system that is just gonna destroy them with mario advertisments. You can say they helped them, but it obviously wasn't nearly enough. And how does localizing games even count? Sony does this in thier sleep. I can probably name hundreds. Hell, even MS has done it better this gen. Its not BS, its me being mad at nintendo for not manning up, and bending over for other amazing developers. Atleast enough so that they could sell a platformer on thier system. Oh and btw, Monster hunter is one of the biggest ips in japan. Yet look at how bad it did in the US, oh i wonder why. Surely its Capcoms fought for abondoning thier own ip.

Edit: oh and btw again, get a grip, its a forum.

I wouldn't argue that they do it as much as Nintendo.  Off the top of my head, I can just name a few games that Sony has localised for 3rd parties this gen.

Ghostbusters

Ridge Racer 7

Time Crisis 4 and RS

Inzimals

I'm certain I'm missing a few, so please add

On the other hand, for Nintendo I can name:

Inazuma Eleven

Prof Layton

Epic Mickey

Glory of Heracles

Goldeneye

Quite a few Tetris games

Dragon Quest IX

Dragon Quest VI

Samurai Warriors 3

Monster Hunter 3

Tenchu: DS

Naruto: CoNR

Zack and Wiki

RE: Umbrella Chronicles

Trauma Centre

Rooms

Quite a few of the Ace Attorney games in Australia and/or Europe

Mario and Sonic in Japan (not sure if this counts as it was developed in Japan)

Meh too early to say how the next gen will go... It all depends on how well these games sell

Is this bloke serious?

Does he actually want Nintendo to start producing shit games just so the 3rd parties will look better?
