I like how he complains about "change your strategy to win," or does he have any grasp of business, politics, or war?

Anyone can go out and buy a Nintendo Wii, but that does not make them a real gamer, so it doesn’t seem right to have them walking amongst people who are buying games like God of War, Halo, Bayonetta, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, Fable, and Gears of War, people who are true gamers. Nintendo Wii has failed to offer any hardcore online or mature single player experiences that the real, deep-seeded gamers are demanding (outside of a few barely noticed attempts). Nintendo is no longer good enough for gamers and it is for all the above reasons that Nintendo belongs in the toy aisle.

this is awesome, plain and simple. put the wii in the toy aisle, the less fat, smelly, metallica t-shirt wearing nerds i have to see when i buy my video games, the better. :)

I remember when I was a kid, the videogame section was IN the toy section. Go down the aisle past SNES, PS, Saturn, and N64 and you find board games and action figures. It's only more recently that they found acceptance in electronics instead.

haha, that brings back memories. i used to get my nes/genesis games in toysrus and i remember the video games were right across the aisle from board games in glass cases and you had to get those tickets and bring them to the register to get a game, then you had to bring the ticket with reciept to a window where a guy would sit and get the games from shelves behind him. haha, it was always magic to me when i would peek in that window and see all those games just sitting there.

Too bad The Sims games sell better on the Wii than they do on other systems. So are his "games" toys as well?

Yes. Wright himself originally defined them as such. The reason is that they, unlike traditional games, lack explicit goals. Many Wii titles are much the same - to a great extent you just "play around" with them, just like you do with toys. As such, the "toy" designation has nothing to do with a lack of merit, quality or artistry, and it is a grievous misconstruction (by the original author of the article) to treat it as such.
